I'm super pumped that Logan received a Best Adapted Screenplay nomination, but also disappointed that it wasn't recognized for anything else. Yes, it's a superhero movie, but if Mad Max: Fury Road can receive a Best Picture nom, so can Logan.

I'm also disappointed that Wonder Woman was overlooked in some of the categories such as Costume and Production Design. And the biggest disappointment? Wind River overlooked in everything.

I'm thrilled for LOGAN! Hopefully it wins! :notworthy: But I agree with @tridon, it should've been nominated for Best Picture!

You are so right. Wonder Woman not getting ANYTHING is crazy considering how big it was. To think movies Transformers and Suicide Squad have Noms but not WW?

Wind River getting overlooked is insane to me.
It hadn't been in any conversations all awards season so I didn't think it ever had a chance... but it seems like the voters forget about films or maybe just didn't see them? If it were up to me, It would get nominated in almost all the categories! haha

I also was a little surprised Blade Runner 2049 didn't get much love... Very happy for the Roger Deakins Nom tho (I hope he wins!). But I really thought it would have done better overall.

I'm surprised by Blade Runner, too. But yeah, Wind River missing from every awards show is just criminal. That was SUCH a great film!

Okay- I need a moment to talk about "Get Out". Because I have mixed feelings on the matter-

While I am glad that a Horror film can be recognized at an awards show- WHY- is it Get Out? Don't get me wrong- I enjoyed Get Out- I liked it, and I thought it was a fine film.
But an Academy nomination-? One for Best Picture I might add...? Something seems off here. I have no delusions that, while Get Out does not have a chance in hell against any of the other films ranked in that category- it just seems very.... weird... that this film even exists amongst the others.

Is it because it's more of recognition due to Jordan Peele's body of work and his handling and balance of social commentary and comedy? Possible.
It this film just a token film after how much heat the Academy received 2 years ago? Also possible.

But if either of these two reasons have contributed to why Get Out was nominated- then it completely invalidates the nomination of the film and the reason for the 2015 protests in the first place- because a film shouldn't be looked at based on it's social political impact- or the implications of what it's nomination means in the political schema of the awards guild- it should be based on its merits as a film. And in my opinion, based solely on Get Out as a cinematic achievement- I don't think that it deserves to win best picture.

Okay- rant over. xD
