Paramount Pictures has announced the upcoming Bad Robot feature Overlord will arrive in theaters on October 26, 2018. The film, from director Julius Avery (Son of a Gun), is based on an original idea by The Hunger Games screenwriter Billy Ray and Bad Robot’s own J.J. Abrams.

The Overlord cast includes Jovan Adepo (The Leftovers), Wyatt Russell (Everybody Wants Some!!), Jacob Anderson (Game of Thrones), Dominic Applewhite (The King’s Speech), Pilou Asbaek (Game of Thrones), Iain de Caestecker (Marvel’s Agents of SHIELD), John Magaro (The Big Short), Mathilde Ollivier (The Misfortunes of Francois Jane) and Bokeem Woodbine (Fargo).

Set on the eve of D-Day, a group of American paratroopers are dropped behind enemy lines to carry out a mission crucial to the invasion’s success. But as they approach their target, they begin to realize there is more going on in this Nazi-occupied village than a simple military operation.

A Bad Robot production, Overlord is produced by J.J. Abrams and Lindsey Weber, and written by Billy Ray (Captain Phillips) and Mark L. Smith (The Revenant). Overlord began shooting in May in the U.K.

It remains to be seen if this film will have ties to the ever-expanding “Cloverfield” cinematic universe, which includes the 2008 original, last year’s 10 Cloverfield Lane, and this year’s God Particle.

The God Particle. (You knew that!)
Overlord is a worse title.

This is a different film I think

The synopsis for God particle is very different to this synopsis

Unless they have completely re shot it

Edit: yeah this is a different film. Different cast too. Chris o dowd, Elizabeth debicki, zhang ziyi etc are in God particle. It's about the astronauts

Clearly stated in the OP :p

If the title Overlord sounds vaguely familiar to you, it’s because we wrote about it in March of last year. And while God Particle or Cloverfield Station or whatever the hell that ends up being called is reportedly set on a space station, Overlordis taking a trip back in time to World War II. Here’s the synopsis:

On the eve of D-Day, American paratroopers are dropped behind enemy lines to carry out a mission crucial to the invasion’s success. But as they approach their target, they begin to realize there is more going on in this Nazi-occupied village than a simple military operation. They find themselves fighting against supernatural forces, part of a Nazi experiment.

Overlord is directed by Julius Avery (Son of a Gun) and stars Wyatt Russell (22 Jump Street) and Jovan Adepo(Fences). About a year ago, we speculated that this could be the fourth entry in the slowly-expanding “Clover-verse,” and after ScreenRant theorized about that same thing this morning, we’ve received confirmation from our sources that yes, Overlord is indeed Cloverfield 4, and that the project has completed production.

Box Office Mojo says Overlord will arrive in theaters on October 26, 2018.

Apparently this ISN'T a Cloverfield movie now. (Which might be a good thing).

And they have in development a direct sequel to the first Cloverfield coming instead.
