I think the only way to go is with the LG 50PB660V Plasma -

3,000,000:1 contrast ratio
Dual core engine and built in web browser.

It's hovering around the £500 mark and for an extra £25 you can get the magic remote that you can talk to etc.

At that price I think it's a bargain, and it's sure to outperform any led/lcd in that price bracket - it's even got a volume leveller to stop that surge you get from a lot of tv's when the adverts come on.
