I will get this if price drops a lot in the new year
If it sells out so be it but I'm not paying €140

If price drops at some stage to €50 to €60 I will get it

I have most of the discs content already from previous purchases

I doubt it'll drop. Usually, Turbine's releases are relatively price-stable. Once it's OOP, they might probably make a cheaper version with less contents.

And here be pictures!

The box is really large, more than A4 size (or US letter, for that part). The cardboard is nice and sturdy.

The front features an artwork by Jean-Baptiste Chuat. I really like how he integrated the shower drain into a rainy puddle!

c28a37f3188b.jpg

The back lists all the extensive bonus material.

7f24c7a437f3.jpg

Opening the box. Inside is a sturdy book "Hotel Register". For English-speaking friends, let's just pretend it is one...

7bd0534ea0e6.jpg

There is a certificate with a limitation number (one out of 3636 pieces).

8aeeffd9d2ce.jpg

The back of the certificate is a postcard from Bates Motel.

60a02a440e84.jpg

For those who dare to look into the Hotel Register: it contains a 120-page book THE PSYCHO FILES by Tobias Hohmann! However, only in German.

61cbb6a6cf50.jpg

It contains stories about the production of all of the contained movies in this box.

8d58bf26bbc2.jpg

For instance, about Bernard Herrmann, the composer.

e911690d4c60.jpg

It is really extensive. Really.

4697cc2ca1d5.jpg

There are 120 pages in total. However, the paper is thin, so it won't be as thick and heavy as a proper coffee table book. Rather like a hotel register.

3e4ed64daf94.jpg

Stop! If you need help (for example, if you want to take a shower...), just ask Norman at the register!

5db91c697671.jpg

Very nicely stylized: hotel props from Bates Motel.

1f2b7b0d8283.jpg

There is even an address. I wonder if it's real.

e6686c7307d6.jpg

And a facsimile copy of Sam Loomis' letter to Marion.

691e4843781e.jpg

This letter was re-filmed in German for the German version (on Disc 5). And here is a physical version, too.

The Art Cards.

d71bdfe43129.jpg

They contain some nice behind-the-scenes pictures and promotion photos.

Also, there are four posters for the four PSYCHO movies. German versions, actually. There are none for BATES MOTEL (the TV pilot) and PSYCHO '98.

Part 1.

Part 2.

f34e34834c37.jpg

Part 3. Anthony Perkins' directing debut!

bcdeea2dd96a.jpg

And Part 4.

e9f710b1722f.jpg

There is also a nice poster of Norman with an owl. This is double as large as the other four.

42804559145b.jpg

Now for the movies. There are two digipaks contained, both in a black-white high-contrast aesthetic.

0aa0a28f9204.jpg

The first box contains just the movies.

915c99db96b9.jpg

On the back: the extensive bonus features.

16868f4ce82a.jpg

The digipak itself is black-and-red.

b5651929b7c1.jpg

c3e6665541d0.jpg

The inside looks like a motel key hanger with 4 hooks. The discs are the keys!

4356ad1f979b.jpg

If you take the discs away, only the empty hooks remain.

3aac94f57e4e.jpg

Also a nice idea. The number of the spikes on the key bits correspond with the number of the disc.

The second digipak: the Legacy.

bf01cf866c43.jpg

And again, extensive bonus materials on the back.

4f188bd55d71.jpg

Once again, the digipak is red-and-black.

eb5f7aee4087.jpg

9dd986e9562f.jpg

It also uses the key hanger motif.

24707b657ba6.jpg

I like how the two digipaks are of a kind.

0390351616b4.jpg

Here you cannot really count the spikes on the key bits. :)

3a1965ec440d.jpg

Now for the two digipaks together.

b917d9181060.jpg

As well as the two digipak slips.

And the spines.

awesome photos and breakdown, thanks! shame (for me) that it's in German, would've seriously considered otherwise.

If book had of been in english I would order but no at the price at the moment and especially with book been in german
I already have most of the extras contents that on the discs.

I understand been a german release book in german but it would be a good option if they did editions of books etc be in english and german

I got mine in. The shipping box looked totally devastated. Luckily, it arrived safe with no damage. Huge, heavy and awesome!!!

Yes, it's definitely worth it for such a classic cinema masterpiece. I was fortunate enough to PO it when it was listed at its lowest price. Pick it up if you haven't already.

I've only ever seen the original/first film which is obviously a classic, but I'm honestly not sure if I'll enjoy the others... I could be tempted if the price were to drop below €100 however.

Yeah, I was referring only to the first film. The others I’ve honestly never watched. To me I just looked at this box set as just me buying it only for the original and seeing the sequels as an bonus.

Hope the price drops so you can get it. Good luck!

My copy arrived today and it's an absolute beast! Turbine have created one hell of a box set

I just ordered this from DTM

Even though I already have films on Blu-ray and most of the extras already

This box set is excellent looking and lot better looking than the thing box set

What's DTM packaging like for customers based outside Germany as this is my first time ordering from them
