[Lone Crusader]

Has anybody heard of QuiBids? I clicked an an ad at the top of the HDN main forum page and followed it and it's apparently a live online auction. They even have the new iPad Air's selling for as low as $7.06 for a 16GB model.

Does anybody know anything about this company? Is it legit or a scam or what, they say they've been around since 2009 but I scour the web everyday and I've never heard of them? They say that all there stuff is brand new too with free shipping. You can evidently buy 100 bids for $60 on your initial sign up.

Too bad they don't auction off steelbooks on there! Anyways I want to find out if it's for real before i actually sign up with them and start bidding.

You pay per bid (I think it's 1$, but not sure on that site). As many of those penny sites you see out there. So if you happen to be the last bidder, you can get a great deal, but for example.


There were 706 bids for that IPad air, which Equals 706$ actually spent by the customers. What does a new one cost? 500? So that company made 100 or 200 bucks on it, while the customer paid per how many bids they had, plus the final value. So they could have paid 8.06$ for it.


I tried one of these sites awhile ago with some free bids I got from them. Those went in a hurry, and I didn't get anything. Just to frustrating and if I'm spending $ on something, I actually want it.




Ps. you could spend that 60$ for the 100 bids and still not get anything.

Yeah, never gave them a shot when i read that you had to buy bids and pay per bid and such. Hell, i rarely even ever buy on ebay anymore. Amazon is my *****.

There are a couple of things to know about Quibids.

You have to buy the bids before bidding. Each bid costs 60 cents. In essence, every time you bid you are spending money.
IMO do not buy bids to bid on an item unless you are ready to pay full price for the item you are bidding on at the end of the auction if you don't win. The bids placed on that item are offered as a discount towards full purchase price or else you forfeit those bids.

It is basically a form of gambling. If you watch how bids are placed, you will see some sort of automatic bidding whereby some have the system bid for them ensuring the price goes higher. Too many go there not informed of how this works. Its basically playing the lottery on items you don't want to pay full price for. It is basically a plot to make them money on big ticket items.

There have been other auction sites like this that were shut down as it was found out they had staff ensuring auctions didn' end to bring in more poor souls into the bidding frenzy. There are plenty more site by searching penny auctions and a nice article about them here
