'Rare'/'Limited'/'Hard(er)' To Find SteelBook/Other Metal Eds List & Chat

*PLEASE NOTE: This list is a 'guide' only and compiled based on a variety of factors including community 'feedback' and 'suggestions'. Steelbook collecting is HIGHLY SPECULATIVE, and different collectors have different ideas of 'rarity', 'limited', 'sought after', and related terms-all of which may change at the drop of a hat with re-releases, or new info.

I posted this in another forum before but I prefer this one, so I try again here. This is an ongoing list that combines a variety of factors that may contribute to the scarcity or rarity of these Steelbooks.-Sirjump

We started off with a "ranked" list, but as many folks may rank items differently, a general "resource" list of harder to find Steelbooks/Rare titles helps the community more. Feel free to comment so we can consider adding or subtract. -Digitalbabe

Possible criteria as to what makes a steelbook rare/hard to find:

* Availability at retailer & exclusivity
* Print run
* Country of origin & region code
* Steelcase design

* Price on 3rd party marketplaces

I had to wait a while to get hold of a sealed copy. It's a borderline call imo, I believe there are some less worthy than this that have made the list however.

Gladiator (NL) is now OOP btw.

Gladiator NL isn't OOP yet. Talking about Gladiator; I suggest to take off: Gladiator (Blu-ray Steelbook) [Taiwan] from the list and replace it with the UK Gladiator steelbook.

UK & Dutch version are the ones to get.

Taiwan version is overrated. Nothing special maybe there is slipcover on it, but nothing more. The same artwork from the slipcover can be found on the UK version. Besides the UK comes with some artcards too.

The rest is all the same inside artwork etc.

Good to hear not OOP not that that bothers me. Disagree with you on the Taiwan though. Thought French was a difficult Gladiator to find ? Not one I've got.

I still say the Senna: Ultimate Collector's Edition (JB HiFi) metal pack should be on the list. It's almost impossible to get now, highly sought after and insanely expensive.

Yes, there are plenty still around on HMV store shelves. It's not that hard to find.

Yes, there are plenty still around on HMV store shelves. It's not that hard to find.

Henke-the list is compiled based on a variety of factors as stated in the OP. Many members consider Steelbooks different if the 'run' or qty avail in different countries is different, eventhough the Steelbook lists the same. We have to try to accommodate all levels of collectors (different people have different criteria). The list changes all of the time. Keep the feedback coming, everyone!
