*PLEASE NOTE: This list is a 'guide' only and compiled based on a variety of factors including community 'feedback' and 'suggestions'. Steelbook collecting is HIGHLY SPECULATIVE, and different collectors have different ideas of 'rarity', 'limited', 'sought after', and related terms-all of which may change at the drop of a hat with re-releases, or new info.

Please visit the Steelbook forum, if you have more detailed questions regarding specific titles, and their 'current' status, as this list is 'dynamic' and changes over time. *

I posted this in another forum before but I prefer this one, so I try again here. This is an ongoing list that combines a variety of factors that may contribute to the scarcity or rarity of these Steelbooks.-Sirjump

We started off with a "ranked" list, but as many folks may rank items differently, a general "resource" list of harder to find Steelbooks/Rare titles helps the community more. Feel free to comment so we can consider adding or subtract. -Digitalbabe

:scat:Keep sharing your thoughts & together we can help the list evolve!:)

Possible criteria as to what makes a steelbook rare/hard to find:

* General interest in movie
* Availability at retailer & exclusivity
* Print run
* Country of origin & region code
* Steelcase design
* (Initial) price
* Individually numbered items
* Print Errors
* Hype
* Price on 3rd party marketplaces

Res Evil Korea hasn't really gone for much more then the Price when it was released strange. But now when its on the list maybe it will go for 200 dollars :hilarious:

I saw on an earlier post that Metropolis was added due to the London riots and subsequent fires. It has been commanding high prices on ebay and is definitely deserving of its place on the list.
Human Centipede and Shogun Assassin were two other steels which were lost in those fires and, whilst not hitting the same prices on ebay as Metropolis yet, they are still going up quite rapidly. I just wondered whether they were also due a spot on the list given that they are so limited.
Btw, are there any figures as to how many units of these Eureka releases made it into the market in the end?

Thanks for your help

I guess I just don't understand the love for La Grande Bleu. Doesn't interest me at all. I know it's a steel, etc but I just kind of roll my eyes when I see the price people are paying for that type of a movie.

But, some people love it.

That's EXACTLY how I feel about John Rambo and everything related to Transformers :hilarious:

I'll take Le Grand Bleu over Rambo or Wanted or any other rare german steelbook.

Not only it's an AMAZING movie, but it reminds me of my childhood. It's one of the first movies I couldn't wait for to be released in theatres! Loved it! And the steelbook looks amazing as well.

Hopefully one day I'll have it in my collection.

Hey Jfitz-welcome to the site! The list is always changing-if more people think Wall-e needs to be on the list, we can consider adding it:)

The FS/Best Buy Wall-e steelbook has 5 listings on ebay right now and on Amazon.com marketplace, there are 3 resellers listing it for sale. It might be difficult to acquire now because of its price. But if you are a Disney collector, there is never a better time to add it to your collection than now.

Posts deleted-quick friendly reminder-per forum rules, do not trade anywhere else except in Steelbook Trading forum. Thanks.

That Sucker Punch Comic Con edition eventually went for $57.02 and I saw one last week go for like $105. People aren't paying the $200 that a lot of sellers want on these on their buy it nows.

I was thinking of starting a ridiculous ebay auction thread, I love to watch ridiculous auctions and sometimes email the seller what are you thinking. Like right now there is an auction for the Assassins Creed III steelbook that can be had for $5 at Best Buy (my Best Buy has at least 40 of them) and the seller has a Buy it Now price of $99.95. I thought ok maybe he is guaranteeing to ship you the game when it comes out too but nope auction says empty case only. Seriously posting ebay auctions costs money talk about pissing away money no one will be bidding on that auction.

The 57$ one was open I believe. I could see a Sealed/mint copy going for $150+ and it has plenty times. If someone wants to go fishing for $200, I couldn't call that ridiculous. There are only 900 of these remember. And a lot less are still sealed. Just my opinion

I open all my steels anyway (would have to rethink opening a sucker punch though) as I like to see if they have any inside art that is cool plus I am major movie buff and I want to watch the film. I don't own a single sealed steelbook :D

The Canadian sucker punch is for opening.

You can even use the digital copy from the canadian version here on iTunes in the US.

That doesn't seem to be the case for every canadian digital copy out there.

Don't have a Canadian sucker punch though, I got a single dvd copy that I found on Black Friday for $3.99 though haha and its not even open, I don't open my dvds until I watch them then I know what's new, I open my steelbooks the moment I get them as I want to see what kind of inner artwork they have.

I say..who cares what seller put on eBay...it's their choice. All you need to do is ignore them. If they want to spend extra for unsold eBay auction, then let them be. It's their money.
