*PLEASE NOTE: This list is a 'guide' only and compiled based on a variety of factors including community 'feedback' and 'suggestions'. Steelbook collecting is HIGHLY SPECULATIVE, and different collectors have different ideas of 'rarity', 'limited', 'sought after', and related terms-all of which may change at the drop of a hat with re-releases, or new info.

Please visit the Steelbook forum, if you have more detailed questions regarding specific titles, and their 'current' status, as this list is 'dynamic' and changes over time. *

I posted this in another forum before but I prefer this one, so I try again here. This is an ongoing list that combines a variety of factors that may contribute to the scarcity or rarity of these Steelbooks.-Sirjump

We started off with a "ranked" list, but as many folks may rank items differently, a general "resource" list of harder to find Steelbooks/Rare titles helps the community more. Feel free to comment so we can consider adding or subtract. -Digitalbabe

:scat:Keep sharing your thoughts & together we can help the list evolve!:)

Possible criteria as to what makes a steelbook rare/hard to find:

* General interest in movie
* Availability at retailer & exclusivity
* Print run
* Country of origin & region code
* Steelcase design
* (Initial) price
* Individually numbered items
* Print Errors
* Hype
* Price on 3rd party marketplaces

I wouldn`t say it mega rare its middle of the road rare they sell for about 35euros and they are many releases of the mist available so its easy to find one

The one to get is the german first release thats about the hardest one to find

Reading your post dude - I disagree with you concluding it as "fun", I think it is just secondary to the essential content of your argument which is cost

* red marked the "cost" content for the visible eyes to see
Sadly, you get no disagreement from me on that. But it does not and should not stop me from bargain hunting and collecting it (6 and counting). :scat:

You know with the holiday season and parties going on, me and some of my pals have put on a sort of roadshow of steelbooks (yes it was brought on by the Amazon.JP "talks"). Besides being great items for party chatter, I am seeing genuine interest growing amongst the "investor" types now, sort of different from the general collector base. If folks have extra copies of the top 3 most desired and rare steelbooks (sorry for the ranking here DB), you might want to hold on to them for a little while. I have heard the $1K+ price of the recent Iron Man auction caused a ripple (not sure how big) through the collector-investor circles. I won't be surprised if IM hits $2K in the next 6 months followed by John Rambo breaking $1K+. And if Brad Pitt wins his first Oscar, the FS Inglourious Basterds would sky rocket too.

So boys and girls, if you can afford it and see a good deal on an authentic hard to find steelbook, have it checked out (of course feel free to use the experts here - I think folks here saved someone's shorts yesterday on a fake John Rambo :hilarious:), and have fun with it. That is what this is all about - FUN!:oohyeah::oohyeah:

Inflation is hitting and will only get worse too. These are rare works of art. Art gets very expensive. EEK!

You dealt 1. Cost, 2. Art but you forgot the essential part : 3. Psychology .

Given that this market is very small, the matter of being left out obtaining a piece which (by buzz, by availability, by limitedness, by geography) in an initial MSRP/release cost tends to make people

1. Crazy < some have voices in their head telling them to get is as much as possible, bid for it, ask desperately, contacting resources..etc...
2. Content < is not in their right state of mind
3. Paranoia (I bet some would even check hourly (if not minutes or seconds) availability, forums and ebay)
4. Anger and Negativity (those who wasnt to obtain a copy either 4.1 badmouth it, 4.2 making false data, 4.3 create nonsense argument )
5. Ofcourse - Fun would be to those who were able to get it at a very very low cost :hilarious:

There is a reason why I don't own The Mist(FR). :D

Wondering if you should change The Mist(GER) to Der Nebel.
The Mist(FR) are part of the those with Force subtitle, and most of the people mind about the disc..

Let The Bullets Fly is it considered rare? My friend couldn't get it.

xage is right.. fun is at the bottom of the list.. I lost count from how long I stopped having time to follow up the forums.
Too much release, too much time consuming.. and a hobby is supposed to do in your free time.... and what if you don't have free time? I have a job, a life and the work doesn't do it by itself... being unemploy wouldn't help:drool:
That's why I've being away in the last 2 years...

I agree that this hobby (as all hobbies) can be very time consuming, stressful (depending on how far you go, and what your priorities are), and frustrating (damages, trading issues,etc etc). But I do think everyone needs to decide if they'd rather have 'fun' with it, or get 'consumed' by potential negative factors. I think there are many 'shades of gray' of 'collectors'. If it's getting to the point where you are miserable, stockpiling based on speculation, but can't justify it, worried about your finances, or spending more time flipping, searching, chasing, etc, than you are doing other things, which may be far more important, or the whole thing is taking more time, than what it is worth, to you personally, it may be time to find a new hobby. People collect for very, very different reasons. If those reasons bring you more agony than happiness, maybe the 'hobby', has turned into a negative thing, and it may be time to rethink things for yourself. As with most things, 'balance' is very important. Just my 2 cents....

True words DB i totally agree with everything you wrote! A hobby always has to be fun! If it isn´t anymore you have to find something new you like. But i´m not close to that point yet, regadarding Steelbooks. They still are big fun for me!

This is exactly what could happen to someone on the long run. I myself am a very intense person. I collect hobbies more than anything else. I often find myself getting into things really fast and try to make the best of them, and waking up one morning and realising I've lost interest. This is one of the reasons why I keep my steels sealed, because I know me, I know that this day will arrive and that I'll just get bored and will try to find excitment in something else.
Don't get me wrong, I'm having the time of my life with this steel collecting and I know where to draw the line. I won't go out of my way or let things take over me, I'm a responsible adult.

Whoops, got to go, my Eastern European contact is here, I'm selling him one of my kidneys to get some more steels.

:joy:

+1 totally, I sometimes feel the obssessive in me taking over and have to rein it back. I mean I only received 6 Steels today :ohno: (honestly). btw 2 cents won't buy a Steel yet DB, maybe soon, but I hope not :hilarious: :hilarious:

Your two cents are gold to me DB :scat:

Hey Ash-no problem. Just been around for a few years, and see how 'it all goes down':) 'Collecting' is very complex, and, can be, for better or worse, highly emotional and complex. Keep sharing your own questions, suggestions for the list, and thoughts, folks! :scat:
