*PLEASE NOTE: This list is a 'guide' only and compiled based on a variety of factors including community 'feedback' and 'suggestions'. Steelbook collecting is HIGHLY SPECULATIVE, and different collectors have different ideas of 'rarity', 'limited', 'sought after', and related terms-all of which may change at the drop of a hat with re-releases, or new info.

Please visit the Steelbook forum, if you have more detailed questions regarding specific titles, and their 'current' status, as this list is 'dynamic' and changes over time. *

I posted this in another forum before but I prefer this one, so I try again here. This is an ongoing list that combines a variety of factors that may contribute to the scarcity or rarity of these Steelbooks.-Sirjump

We started off with a "ranked" list, but as many folks may rank items differently, a general "resource" list of harder to find Steelbooks/Rare titles helps the community more. Feel free to comment so we can consider adding or subtract. -Digitalbabe

:scat:Keep sharing your thoughts & together we can help the list evolve!:)

Possible criteria as to what makes a steelbook rare/hard to find:

* General interest in movie
* Availability at retailer & exclusivity
* Print run
* Country of origin & region code
* Steelcase design
* (Initial) price
* Individually numbered items
* Print Errors
* Hype
* Price on 3rd party marketplaces

I always say, dont let the hobby beat you ... beat it! Finding balance is the #1 solution to that. Some say "You know what, I'm only going to collect my home Country" or "I'm only going to collect movies I truly love" ... Certain actors they love, etc. etc. Just depends.

If you think you will obtain all the releases, you're destined to fail and end up hating life.

If you want more than you can afford, then perhaps being smarter and buying 3 of a title you KNOW will be worth more in a few months etc. Then sell off those extras and now you got enough to buy 6 in place of those 2. Keep that trend going and now you're beating the hobby by still getting lots of steels you want by making smart buying decisions.

what do you guys think the dark knight steel slipcase and saving private ryan steel slipcase would go for these days

TDK - $400 + good condition - sealed $500+ (seen it happen last 3 times)

SPR - $250+

ps. Ash, John Rambo wont be selling for $1000 ... its hovered at $500 max for like ever. I also dont think a sealed Iron Man would go again for $1000. I could be wrong, but more likely a bidding war happened last time.

"Can I get an AMEN to that?" :scat: Perfectly said - "Beat it or get beat"

Really? Man, I should have bought some TDK at Big W when I was in Sydney for Christmas 2009. But that steelcase didn't appeal to me then. Now, Gladiator is a different story with the embossed title and mask.

You might be right in both counts. As in anything speculative, it is highly dependent on the "mood" swings of a select few with unlimited funds. I just hope the future asking price of IM and JR stay reasonable for those who really want to get one for their collection (like me :)) I have seen a few folks who were pursuing IM moved on to acquiring the CN Moulin Rouge metalpak for crazy $ :eek:

Out of curiosity, would you happen to have those two (IM and JR) ?

I think the John Rambo Uncut (de) MM Exclusive Steelbook is rare was just few days in stores.

+1 This should be on the list. John Rambo (DE, Media Markt Exclusive, Uncut) - Pulled from sale steelbook after a couple of days because of the not approved released disc?

Repackaged with the correct disc (cut) - This is my understanding.

Rambo: Amazon : MM Uncut : MM Cut

What is the definitive way to tell which of the re-release was uncut vs. cut? if there is no definitive way, then its hard for the value/demand to go up on the uncut vs.

I see a red thing in the middle of the back of that steel. Is that on every cut version? I have an uncut simply because I bought it from masterblaster during the first release day, but I've never really known how to tell the difference between the repackaged version.
