*PLEASE NOTE: This list is a 'guide' only and compiled based on a variety of factors including community 'feedback' and 'suggestions'. Steelbook collecting is HIGHLY SPECULATIVE, and different collectors have different ideas of 'rarity', 'limited', 'sought after', and related terms-all of which may change at the drop of a hat with re-releases, or new info.

Please visit the Steelbook forum, if you have more detailed questions regarding specific titles, and their 'current' status, as this list is 'dynamic' and changes over time. *

I posted this in another forum before but I prefer this one, so I try again here. This is an ongoing list that combines a variety of factors that may contribute to the scarcity or rarity of these Steelbooks.-Sirjump

We started off with a "ranked" list, but as many folks may rank items differently, a general "resource" list of harder to find Steelbooks/Rare titles helps the community more. Feel free to comment so we can consider adding or subtract. -Digitalbabe

:scat:Keep sharing your thoughts & together we can help the list evolve!:)

Possible criteria as to what makes a steelbook rare/hard to find:

* General interest in movie
* Availability at retailer & exclusivity
* Print run
* Country of origin & region code
* Steelcase design
* (Initial) price
* Individually numbered items
* Print Errors
* Hype
* Price on 3rd party marketplaces

I would add to the list:

Senna Ultimate Edition JBHiFi Exclusive (Metal Box AU). Already pretty rare.

and the Conan FNAC Exclusive (FR) is getting hard to find and expensive too.

Dunno, Book of Eli FS still seems quite easy to get hold of, and is still fairly inexpensive (there are usually copies to be found on eBay).

Cowboys & Aliens Tin should probably come off the list. Sounds like Amazon are heavily stocked with it now, so it's going to be easily available for quite a while.

Should go on the list: Conan (2011) Fnac edition w/comic

I kind of wish I kept Angels and Demons before now that I have seen this list.
9 (that I still own) out of those is not bad though, mostly unsealed unfortunately. :p

If you ask me, these FNAC releases are pretty overrated. Yes, you get an extra exclusive booklet which is in French text. In the end it's all about the steelbook it self. Which you can grab everywhere. There are tons of Conan steelbooks in France.

The only real exclusive FNAC were X-Men: Wolverine. That was a 100% FNAC exclusive. Plus Inception Dream Mallete limited to: #9.999. Comes with exclusive goodies, than all other briefcases did not have.

What's so special about Hellboy II with booklet? Nothing, Amazon.fr also had this steelbook in first. Same goes for Body of Lies.

Then you can add every FNAC steelbook that came with booklet.
---------------------------------------------------------------

-The Hurt Locker Korean steelbook is still not on the list
-Black Swan limited boxset from France is also not on the list: This one is limited to 1.500 pieces and is numbered and was quickly sold out.

That is a good point you pay much more for just a booklet not sure myself why i perfer the FNAC releases over standard but i do
I believe the transporter trilogy is also just avaliable in FNAC.

Well that's all true Pieter, but they are still sought after by collectors and command high prices, and so are worthy of inclusion on any 'rare' list.

Re FNAC, there might been shed loads of exclusive stuff instore but we, outside France find it difficult to source without very kind personal help.

FNAC offer some nice collectables which you can't get anywhere else, that's what makes them sort after IMHO.

Then you can add all instore exclusives to the list. Like the exclusive Media Markt Germany steelbooks (Heroes series) for example. The entire exclusive Futureshop steelbooks too.

;)

Not quite, as there are GBs for each release/wave so we can source. Supply/demand.
