*PLEASE NOTE: This list is a 'guide' only and compiled based on a variety of factors including community 'feedback' and 'suggestions'. Steelbook collecting is HIGHLY SPECULATIVE, and different collectors have different ideas of 'rarity', 'limited', 'sought after', and related terms-all of which may change at the drop of a hat with re-releases, or new info.

Please visit the Steelbook forum, if you have more detailed questions regarding specific titles, and their 'current' status, as this list is 'dynamic' and changes over time. *

I posted this in another forum before but I prefer this one, so I try again here. This is an ongoing list that combines a variety of factors that may contribute to the scarcity or rarity of these Steelbooks.-Sirjump

We started off with a "ranked" list, but as many folks may rank items differently, a general "resource" list of harder to find Steelbooks/Rare titles helps the community more. Feel free to comment so we can consider adding or subtract. -Digitalbabe

:scat:Keep sharing your thoughts & together we can help the list evolve!:)

Possible criteria as to what makes a steelbook rare/hard to find:

* General interest in movie
* Availability at retailer & exclusivity
* Print run
* Country of origin & region code
* Steelcase design
* (Initial) price
* Individually numbered items
* Print Errors
* Hype
* Price on 3rd party marketplaces

I say..who cares what seller put on eBay...it's their choice. All you need to do is ignore them. If they want to spend extra for unsold eBay auction, then let them be. It's their money.

I like to watch the ridiculously priced ones, I just get a kick out of what some people try and sell things for. I wish we could post comments on ebay so we could warn people sometimes though, I would feel terrible for anyone who paid $95 for an Assassin's Creed III but then again I guess if you don't do your homework you pay for it.

you should feel terrible for me then :) I'm well known to overpay steelbook :) It's okay, it's only money and we live only once. And you're right, the buyer should do their homework first. Sometime...from experience, I gotta have it so I just put $1000 bid on my ebay auction and I ended up paying for more than I should have :), but in the end, I get what I want :)

Wow you are braver than me, I normally like to throw out the starting bid (that way I don't miss the auction if no one bids on it but me) then I wait tell the last hour and just keep an eye on it. I bargain shop a lot I will watch dozens of auctions and just wait and wait for a good deal. Funny thing is the most I have ever paid for a steel was X3 when it was the must have item several years ago (I paid over a $100 for it and thought it was a steal as they could fetch $175-200 at the time). Now I doubt I could even get half of what I paid for it as the steelbook world went G2 crazy.

I think its just fun to watch some of the ridiculous ones to see if they ever do get bids on them. I got 3 I am watching right now A Trip to the Moon with a BIN for $99.99, Assassin's Creed for BIN $95 and Hurt Locker for BIN $179.99. Not sure on the last one as I don't know what they go for and I know it is a rarer steel but the first two can be had readily for much less.

To say there are only 900 made, these don't sell for the high prices one would expect, I regularly see these go for less than $120 sealed/mint on ebay. If this was for a better movie, say Star Wars, this would be one of the most valuable steel's available due to the low numbers.

The 57$ one was open I believe. I could see a Sealed/mint copy going for $150+ and it has plenty times. If someone wants to go fishing for $200, I couldn't call that ridiculous. There are only 900 of these remember. And a lot less are still sealed. Just my opinion

I believe Sucker Punch was available off the WB site for $24(?) like 6 months ago...Now it sells for 4x + more the original purchase price...Fantastic return if sold now or in the furture...Will only go up in value.

hubmuswell, what do you expect the ceiling is on this bad boy?

Who knows EEK!
I like my first thought...As high as Baby Doll's stockings :twisted:

I agree that it'll rise based on how different it is from other releases. But I have spoken with a few people who think it'll be limited growth due to the fact that it's G1. I hope that's not the case, but I'd understand if that was the reason it doesn't go far past $200

Even if it is G1, it will sell...Fantastic release :scat:

Don't look at it as an investment and the potential return as it might affect your judgement on buying SBs in general EEK!

yep, you can say that for pretty much every steelbook right? :)

John Rambo for $40..now selling for $600+ for a sealed one.
Iron Man for $40...now selling for $600+ for a sealed one.
and so on...

no, I still see about 4 of them on eBay for $40 or less.

Whats with the Canadian Steel for "The Mechanic" ? I think this is rare too!

I think The Flammen Citronen blu ray steelbook from Denmark, home of steelbooks. It should be on the list. I had a hard time finding a copy just till recently. very unique blu banner design.
