no the whole movie takes place after the first Alien movie or around that time its, because the design is very reminiscent of Alien 1979.
The director took the best parts of all the alien movies and put them in one, for example near the end he took a disturbing scene from Prometheus but he changed it up
Spoiler alert, there is no surgery machine to help this time, not gonna say anything else:sick: I think everyone felt queasy seeing it
Its very suspenseful it reminded me alot of Alien Isolation the game, dont know if you ever played it but it's very much like that, if you loved the first alien and Alien Isolation then you wont be dissapointed
I would easily put Alien Romulus as the Third best Alien movie of the entire franchise
I didn't play the game but your comments and the @Lone Crusader as well hyped me enough to overpass the fact that i was hoping for a sequel to Covenant, but that's quite alright :)

MISSION IMPOSSIBLE: DEAD RECKONING

Honestly, I'm still on the fence with exactly how many Ninja's this deserves.

I just love this franchise, and with the exception of 2 which seems super MTVish to me, think they all pretty much rock and roll! Ghost Protocol was excellent, and I wasn't sure how they'd up that. Then Rogue Nation came along, blew me away, and I wasn't sure how they'd up that. Then Fallout came along, and that blew me to smithereens, and I was pretty sure they'd never top that. Sadly, I was finally correct.

While I did enjoy Dead Reckoning a great deal, I'm faced with the unfortunate task of putting it up next to what I consider superb cinema endeavors, and this falls short of that beautiful ideal for me.

Plenty of action. Plenty of intrigue. Acting is top notch. But there is just something that I can't put my finger on that is off the mark. I watched this several days ago and was going to give it a 3 because I just wasn't blown away like before. But it is loaded with everything you'd want from a top notch action film. But I can't give it the 5 Ninja's I would gleefully give the others.

Because of this, I can only give this film .....

I highly recommend this movie, one of the best movies of this year!
Right now it stands at #2 of my 2024 Letterbox list, soundtrack was incredible as well (performed by Z Berg) I instantly purchased it when it was announced by Mutant:thanks:

Thanks for the recommendation as knew nothing about this. It is getting a UK release 20th September, so I'll be sure to catch it now. I just learned it is the same producers as Late Night With The Devil too.

The oddest thing is that it was shot by Giovanni Ribisi- the actor! On 35mm film, no less!
And I heard he did a stellar job as DP.

It's incredible what he managed to do, because they had a tight budget
I saw on twitter it was his first time doing cinematography for a film and it's very impressive.
If I wasn't such a fan of the Alien franchise I would've placed Strange Darling at #1 film of the year :D
