I feel this show started going a little down hill once Steve Carell left. Probably also doesn't help that I can't stand Catherine Tate, and James Spader's character (or maybe just Spader himself) kinda does my head in too. Thankfully the other regular characters almost make up for it.

Quatermass and the Pit 1958 BBC TV

I finally got around to watching the classic TV series which was remastered for blu-ray using all the surviving film elements and video tape and very very impressive is to. For a 1958 production it was way ahead of it's time. It lacks that studio bound feel of productions of the time and certainly the template for Jon Pertwee's Dr Who. Highly recommended. How does it compare to the film. Chalk and cheese. The film is superior for me because it condenses the plot but maintains the excellent dialogue. Also the film cast is better. Andrew Keirs Quatermass for me if the definite Quatermass. One of the rare times a superb film is made out of a TV show that stands up as superb cinema..... Both the film and TV show are recommended viewing.....

Over the past 2 months I've been watching this 26 part documentary series from Thames Television 1st transmitted in 1974. This is the remastered Network pressing in blu-ray and tells the story of the 2nd World War.
Simply put it's the most brilliant piece of TV ever made. It's everything that makes exceptional TV. The episode on the Holocaust is the most powerful piece of TV I have ever seen bar none. Sir Laurence Olivier voice was
never put to better use. This is how you make documentaries. No frills, just the story from the people of the time and nothing else. I honestly don't think the series could have been made any earlier or later.

Was told this was a lot like The Office (US), which I loved, so with that I was instantly sold! So far I just feel like it's totally ripping it off, rather than bringing anything new/original to the table... will stick with it for now though.

Love, Death & Robots - season1

Finally got around to watching all the episodes. Some are somewhat average while some you really wish they could do more.
Was really impressed with the CGI animation in some of the episodes.

A really gripping and heartbreaking true story. However, I felt the main girl didn't exactly help herself in being upfront and honest to the cops, so she basically gave them no reason to believe her IMO. Oh, and something about the actress who played the detective really irritated me... it was like she was constantly trying too hard to act and be all serious, so it ended up feeling really obvious and unnatural. Everyone else was great though... Dever and Collette especially!
