The steelbook in that video above looks like it's fully glossed on the front. The back doesn't exactly look glossy though.

So which release would that be?
The release in the video is the 4K steel, so that's the new one. Robocop and the car are glossed on the front, the background and title is matte, as is the entirety of the rear.

Ah, OK. I see it now. I thought the front was full gloss but I now see that the background is indeed matte and that the back is matte as well.

Thank you for clearing that up for me. :thumbs:

This reprint does not have the same finish as the previous one. They're actually complete opposites. I have them both in hand.

Old, everything is glossy except robocop and car on the front.

New, everything is matte except robocop and car on the front.
I f***** knew it! See @paulboland @tha_lunatic , but it doesnt surprise me you were wrong again, you know nothing :naughty:

I was correct about the previous Blu-ray Steelbook
We was discussing the previous Blu-ray Steebook not the new 4K UHD steelbook
You posted (Post#34) the Blu-ray steelbook from 2019 was only spot gloss that was incorrect
My replies was to your post #34

Previous Blu-ray steelbook was mostly gloss finish
I said 2019 steelbook
Front most of the car not gloss but rest of the front of steelbook was gloss
Back was full gloss

@samdavies
There is gloss finish on parts of robocop itself on the 2019 steelbook
You need to look again
Top and bottom parts of Robocop

@Hereticz
Look at the Blu-ray steelbook if you still have it or did you even purchase it
Yes the new 4K UHD steelbook not the same but all of our discussion was about previous Blu-ray steelbook only

Then the old one is better, as those Detroit PD cars were the first 'matte' cars I've ever seen, and it's more accurate.

I can unequivocally tell you everything circled here in red is matte. Including robocop's head and foot at the top/bottom.

Only the background at the top and bottom and the title are glossed on the front. Fully glossed back, as is the spine.

I heard this isnt 4k ,just a transfer of the old blu ray ... Just like it done with terminator 2
You heard wrong. For a start, the "old" blu-ray as you put it (the arrow one anyway) had a new 4K scan and master, just whopped on a 1080p disc.

These 4K discs have the same 4K master with a newly created DV grading and Atmos soundtrack. I watched the Director's cut last night and it looks fantastic.

T2, slightly different story. It too had a new 4K scan and master, Cameron just tampered to f!uck with it to make it suitable for the 3D release - which was the main reason he went back and remastered it in the first place.

One thing i will say why do arrow insist on those dire paper j cards that rip so easily and are a nightmare to remove from the steel?
I can't say this for all arrow steels, but the jcard on this one is thicker and glossed. Not really flimsy in my eyes and it was a sinch to remove.

Can I ask why did you buy this if you had the original?

Are they not identical apart from the finish on the steelbook (which you weren't to know would be different anyway)

It was because I knew I already liked the steelbook (assuming it was the same) and wanted the 4K discs. So I'd receive it, then when safe, sell the original 1080p steel. I'll probably still do that, just switch the discs over first now.

Oh yeah, of course. I forgot the original didn't have 4k! :facepalm:
