The 12th annual Rose City Comic Con, Portland’s premier pop-culture event, will unite over 60,000 fans of comic books, art, anime, books, tabletop and video gaming, television and film, cosplay, and more at the Oregon Convention Center from Friday, September 6 through Sunday, September 8, 2024. Presented by LeftField Media, the iconic three-day convention will give fans of all ages the rare opportunity to meet top-tier comic book creators and A-list celebrities, including Hayden Christensen and Rosario Dawson of Star Wars, Rhys Darby, Kristian Nairn, Vico Ortiz, and Matthew Maher of Our Flag Means Death, Simon Pegg of Star Trek and Shaun of the Dead, Doug Jones and Jason Isaacs of Star Trek, Steve Burns, Donovan “Joe” Patton, and Josh dela Cruz of Blue’s Clues, Stephanie Beatriz of Encanto and Hazbin Hotel, Dean Norris, RJ Mitte, Raymond Cruz, Steven Michael Quezada, Daniel and Luis Moncada of Breaking Bad, and more. The McElroy Family will also be on-site and will record two live podcast episodes for My Brother, My Brother & Me and Adventure Zone. Fans can enjoy hundreds of hours of programming including exclusive expert-led panels and master classes, fan-submitted programming, tabletop and video gaming, cosplay meetups, workshops, and more.


To celebrate 12 years, Rose City Comic Con will hold an official ribbon cutting ceremony to celebrate Mayor Ted Wheeler’s official proclamation naming September 6, 2024 as “Rose City Comic Con Day” in the city of Portland. The ceremony will take place at 12:30pm on Friday outside of the Oregon Convention Center. Representatives from LeftField Media will also provide brief remarks at the ceremony.
Making its debut in 2024, Anime Yokocho is an all-new show feature dedicated to all things anime and manga. Fans can expect anime-focused shopping, photo opportunities, free swag, and meet & greets with popular anime voice actors such as Attack On Titan stars Bryce Papenbrook, Trina Nishimura, and Jesse James Grelle.
Returning fan favorites include Destination Cosplay, where fans can attend workshops to level up their craft, connect with cosplay enthusiasts, and show off their masterpieces in the annual cosplay competition, and Rose City Jr., a feature specifically designed for the next generation of fans — complete with an action-packed Movement Zone, creative art workshops, and exciting hands-on activations. Also returning is the Creator Pro track, perfect for fans looking to break into the comics industry. The Star Wars Fan Experience is also back and better than ever! Guests can experience 3,000 square feet of Star Wars magic including a Mandalorian throne and forge, an X-Wing cockpit, and a behind-the-scenes look at incredible props and costumes.
Rose City Comic Con Book Fair is proud to continue its partnership with the world’s largest independent bookstore and a local staple, Powell’s Books. Book Fair allows literature lovers to purchase books, get them signed, discover up-and-coming writers, and enjoy special panels and master classes from esteemed authors like Max Brooks, Terry Brooks, Olivie Blake, Laini Taylor, Nnedi Okorafor, and more.
Rose City is thrilled to welcome Portland Retro Gaming Expo back to the video gaming area. Fans can enjoy tried and true arcade favorites and retro games from every era. GameStorm, Portland’s longest-running gaming convention, and Battle Grounds Gaming Cafe will provide a variety of tabletop games, along with trading card games like Star Wars: Unlimited and role playing games like Dungeons and Dragons.
Fans can keep the fun going after hours with Dark Horse Comics, Oni Press, Wacom, and creators Jody Houser and Zack Davisson, and more for a special Drink and Draw (21+) afterparty on Friday, September 6 at 8:00 pm at Spirit of ‘77, 500 NE Martin Luther King Jr. Blvd, Portland, OR. Anime Yokocho
Making its debut in 2024, Anime Yokocho is an all-new show feature dedicated to all things anime and manga. Fans can expect anime-focused shopping, photo opportunities, programming, dance parties, and cosplay events for anime fans, free swag from Crunchyroll, and meet & greets with popular anime voice actors such as Attack On Titan stars Bryce Papenbrook, Trina Nishimura, and Jesse James Grelle and Naruto stars Maile Flanagan and Kate Higgins.
Destination Cosplay
This year, Destination Cosplay has grown its footprint. Fans can enjoy Cosplay Meetups powered by FanPowered Press on the Destination Cosplay Red Carpet at Booth #1230. New for 2024, the Maker Academy powered by Downen Creative Studios, Hoku Props and others will help cosplayers take their craftsmanship to the next level with separately ticketed master classes in Room B112. Fans can also take advantage of free cosplay services (repair and changing rooms) and a curated exhibition in the B Meeting Rooms. Cosplay focused panels will also be happening throughout the weekend in Room D137-140.
Star Wars Fan Experience
Back for 2024, and better than ever! The Star Wars Fan Experience features over 3,000 square feet of pure Star Wars magic in Destination Cosplay. Located in Room B113-116, Star Wars Fan Clubs transports guests to a galaxy far, far away. The experience includes a Mandalorian throne, an X-Wing cockpit, and a behind the scenes look at the incredible props and costumes!
Book Fair
Rose City Comic Con’s Book Fair is proud to continue its partnership with the world’s largest independent bookstore and a local staple, Powell’s Books. The Book Fair features panels in in Room E145-146 followed by author signings at the RCCC Bookstore powered by Powell’s at Booth #356. This year’s Book Fair boasts 2 Early Con Exclusives for sale, as well as an exclusive book plate signing featuring Kristian Nairn and his new biopic “Beyond the Throne,” available for pre-order at the RCCC Bookstore. This show feature allows literature lovers to purchase books, get them signed, discover up-and-coming writers, and enjoy special panels and master classes from esteemed authors like Max Brooks, Terry Brooks, Olivie Blake, Laini Taylor, Nnedi Okorafor, and more.
Creator Pro
Calling all aspiring pop culture professionals! Unlock your potential and dive into the world of comics with the Creator Pro track at Rose City Comic Con. Terry Brooks and Max Brooks will be holding masterclass sessions for those looking to get schooled and brush up on their writing skills. Fans will have the opportunity to have a Portfolio Review conducted by Editors from Rebellion, Oni Press, Dark Horse Comics and DC Comics, as a way to kick start their career in the world of comics. Rose City Jr
Rose City Jr provides hours of fun with entertaining and educational programs for families, including interactive drawing workshops, puppet shows, costume parades, storytimes, an entire area dedicated to kids movement activities and more. Presented by ThinkFun, Brio, and Ravensburger, Rose City Jr. is the place to be for fun-filled family activities spanning a variety of interests.

Now in its twelfth year, Rose City Comic Con is thrilled to welcome a range of bestselling and rising star authors including: Nnedi Okorafor, Max Brooks, Peter V. Brett, Olivie Blake, Terry Brooks, Laini Taylor, Kimberly Lemming, Joe R. Lansdale, Elaine U Cho, Matthew Lyons, Jared Pechaček, and Kasey Lansdale.

Limited to just 25 aspiring writers, each class also includes a Rose City Comic Con pencil and notebook.
Outside of the Book Fair, Rose City Comic Con is proud to be collaborating with more comic book publishers than ever before, including DC Comics, Rebellion (Booth #803), and Portland’s own comic book publishing houses Dark Horse Comics (Booth #701), Oni Press (Booth #1001), and DSTLRY. Aspiring comic creators will get the chance to have their portfolios evaluated by a few of these, including DC Comics, Rebellion, and Dark Horse Comics. This incredible professional opportunity is part of Rose City Comic Con’s Creator Pro programming track which also features a number of panels about breaking into the industry, a networking mixer, and the two previously mentioned writing Master Classes.

Rose City Comic Con’s first ever Silent Auction, with proceeds benefiting BINC (Book Industry Charitable Foundation), will take place Friday through Sunday and will feature a myriad of celebrity-autographed items as well as one-of-a-kind art from comic creators. Fans can see all the items that are available as well as make a big by heading to Room G132 and the Ginkoberry Concourse during Rose City Comic Con, as well as look for the Silent Auction to be live online before the show.

After the con shuts its doors on Friday, September 6, the third annual Drink & Draw will take place down the block at Spirit of ’77, 500 NE Martin Luther King Jr Blvd, Portland, OR 97232. This separately ticketed event has sold out two years in a row and lets fans and creatives “draw for a cause” while enjoying drinks and socializing. Guest judges include comic creators Christopher Priest, Jody Houser, Zack Davisson, Jordan Blum, and celebrity comic creator Patton Oswalt. Prizes include amazing gifts valued at over $500 from Wacom, Oni Press, Dark Horse Comics, and more! There will also be a live auction featuring art from our comic guests and other collectibles with 100% of the proceeds benefiting The Hero Initiative. Last year’s event garnered $3,450 for comic creators in need.

Rose City Comic Con (RCCC), Portland’s premier pop-culture event, will unite over 60,000 fans of comic books, art, anime, books, tabletop and video gaming, television and film, cosplay, and more at the Oregon Convention Center from Friday, September 6 through Sunday, September 8, 2024.


On Friday, September 6th, Rose City Comic Con will hold an official proclamation reading to celebrate The City of Portland’s official proclamation naming September 6th, 2024 as “Rose City Comic Con Day.” Rose City Comic Con will celebrate the 12th anniversary with remarks at 12:00pm in the MLK Lobby inside the convention center.
Registered press must check-in onsite at the RCCC Office, Room G131, and must show their mobile QR code along with a valid ID upon arrival. All credentialed media will receive a mobile QR code via email.
The RCCC press pass allows media access to open events, space permitting, but does not include special access or guaranteed seating at any events that are first come, first served, or any ticketed panels. While media are welcome to queue with RCCC attendees for autographs or photo opportunities with special guests, a press pass does not provide preferential access or interview access during these opportunities. Everyone attending RCCC must follow all event rules, which can be found online.
For photos and autographs with celebrity guests, press must purchase tickets online.
Qualified media interested in attending RCCC must register online. See the application for more information. Applications will receive a response within 1-2 days. All media must submit applications prior to Friday, September 6th for consideration. The application portal will close on Thursday, September 5th at 5PM. Please apply individually per registrant.
