Sega Japan confirmed tons of information on the upcoming mini consoles. First, that for the US the Mega Drive would be branded as the Genesis. There will be 40 games in total, with 10 of them already revealed (and listed before), and the system will release on September 19th globally.

There will be two versions of the minis, each with two price points: 6980円 (about $70) for the one controller version and 8980円 (about $90) for the two controller version. The controllers themselves will be USB-based with six buttons on the Japanese version and three buttons on the Western version.

The Mega Drive/Genesis mini will support save states, a very welcome addition that will make playing these classic titles a little less stressful. It was also confirmed during the livestream that Sega Ages developer M2 would be handling the software for the MegaDrive/Genesis mini.

And for the Western release:

  • Altered Beast
  • Castlevania Bloodlines
  • Comix Zone
  • Dr. Robotnik’s Mean Bean Machine
  • Ecco the Dolphin
  • Gunstar Heroes
  • Shining Force
  • Sonic the Hedgehog
  • Space Harrier 2
  • Toejam & Earl

Oh don't mate I remember this game, my sister got it and I ended up playing it as she wasn't really into gaming at the time she just wanted it cos it was Disney. I remember many a Rage quit over this

Kids nowadays will never understand the days of no saves:rolleyes::D
Haha I don't think I've ever come across anyone who played it and didn't experience gamerage. :p

So true! I never actually owned the game myself, but a friend did... so it was a pain in the ass getting so far, and then having to go home without being able to save our progress. :arghh:

Next 10 games announced:

Mega Man The Wily Wars
Street Fighter II Special Champion Edition
Ghouls n Ghosts
Alex Kidd in the Enchanted Castle
Beyond Oasis
Golden Axe
Phantasy Star 4 The End of the Millennium
Sonic Spinball
Vectorman
Wonder Boy in Monster World

Personally it's great to see Mega Man and Street Fighter on there although it sucks that the UK/US console will only come with 3 button controllers (hopefully there is so sort of fan outrage which convinces Sega to change to 6 button pads like the Japanese release)

SFII on a 3 button controller :banghead:

Hopefully they can be persuaded to change their minds. If not, this is apparently officially licensed by Sega and confirmed to work on the mini https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B07H3WX1DH/?tag=hidefnin-21

I had a feeling the Retro-Bit USB controllers would work, I have 2 of the "original connection" Retro-Bit controllers on order and one of each of the Retro-Bit N64 Tribute controllers, still it is a shame the mini console doesn't come with 6 button pads as standard (like Japan) as Street Fighter 2 is tough as all hell on a 3 button pad

As cool as it would be, They won't change the controller type for the UK release. Anyway makes for more of a challenge on SFII :oohyeah: Think we can all button bash as well as we could as kids:rofl::rofl: I very much doubt I can :oohyeah:

Some great games added to the list tho and I'm actually really looking forward to this coming out:thumbs:

Yeah, just seen this, don't think there's any chance they'll change it:

@hoppusdelonge Yeah mate the original Uk release controller wasn't the 6 button so they will stick to the original unfortunately, but as you said above the one you posted the link to will work for sure just a shame that its another piece that fans will have to buy.
