Thanks for your comment.
Most (if not all) retailers are selling SteelBooks more than the cost of the standard Blu-ray. We get that you are talking only £3 but we are sure theres lots of older movies that have had SteelBooks come to the market that have also had the standard Blu-ray for a couple of quid too. If you were to always shop around and avoid SteelBooks we would all have a cheaper hobby. :D

Thanks again,
EverythingBlu
I'm not talking bad about you, I know its what companies do. Novamedia halved the prices of their steels. I know theres a big mark up. I'm just saying I'm not going to feel sympathy for you if someone decides to pick one up cheaper on ebay

There's certainly not a big mark up here. Most retailers that have been on the market for a while have slowly increased their prices but with not with much increase in cost.

Thanks again.

If someone gets it cheaper on eBay it's the eBay seller making a loss not the retailer
The retailer sold at full price to the eBay seller.

Don't forget small independent retailers and high volume retailers like HMV/Zavvi/Amazon is lot different
Amazon and Zavvi would have high file discounts and lower dealer prices than a small setup that sell small quantity of stock

A lot of the premium releases are from small setup so their costs are higher

If you need context, this is part of a continued conversation in the page before. If someone picks up a copy cheaper on ebay, then they're choosing a reseller over everythingblu, therefore the reseller ends up a couple of quid down and nothing has changed for everything blu opposed to everythingblu getting a further £23 ""

Sorry, but I don't get the point being made here and finding it confusing this comparing the buying of the EB steelbook package from a re-seller rather than from a retailer.Taking the SHAUN OF THE DEAD steelbook package - as to whether you should buy it directly from EB or wait for it to sell out there and then buy it cheaper from a re-seller I'd say "Good luck to you" . . . surely the logical approach for a re-seller would be to offer the steelbook package at a price higher than what he/she paid for it and not cheaper or else there isn't much point . . .
Providing the package is not "Sold out" with EB I fail to see why anyone would buy it from any other source as the collector should definitely be supporting EB directly in their endeavours and not the re-sellers especially if you are into this type of steelbook package and would like to collect further examples in the future.

The fact that the very nice original SHAUN OF THE DEAD steelbook is long OOP (still available in "New and sealed" condition however for between 20 and 25 quid on the secondary market) means that there is a market for a new one and although this new steelbook comes third in my list of SHAUN OF THE DEAD steelbooks (why third after the Play I hear you ask? . . .and my answer is because this particular artwork is better suited to the horizontal shape of the original steelbook where a fair bit more of said artwork front and back is on show - as in a 16:9 TV compared to a 4:3 - more cute zombies for your bucks - and that's why).

That being said I'd still buy the new steelbook in a heartbeat if it was available by itself and priced sensibly

The 2010 Canadian release looks the best. Might have to hunt it down.

400kbps extra on Shaun... pretty much nothing at all, not even worth mentioning to be honest. USA Hot Fuzz is 4Mbps more though and does have better detail retention.

To be honest, this won't make any huge difference but it is worth noting that NA got a high bit rate encoding than Rest of the World.

I rip Blu-rays and re-encode them at 17-18 Mbps via Handbrake. You can hardly discern any artifacts even when projecting to 85 inches.

@paulboland any idea if blu box stock will last till the end of the month??
It's possible but more than likely will be close to sold out by then

I won't post stock levels for the Blu Box even though I know how many are left
I promised to not do so with Everything Blu after initial posting of the stock levels

I was told actual images of the Full Slip and Lenti will be shown soon and the Full Slip is lot better looking than some might expect
