Yes in silent movie scenes you can hear the airflow clearly :/ I can see the rainbow effect a bit just in Sin City. A black and white movie is the worst case for the Benq.

But the 2D picture ist great and 3D fantastic ;)

For this low price i can live with the noise.

I went out to a shop to test it and eventually bought it ;-)

I don't see the famous rainbow effect nor do I find it noisy.

After installing the projector, I found a best settings guide at avs forums and I am running it in Eco mode.

Picture quality is fantastic!

The taken photos don't do justice to the picture quality which is given.
It's as if my 50" Panasonic plasma has been enlarged to 92"

How is the contrast and black levels?

Nice PJ Anubisnefer! You are lucky. I am prone to seeing DLP "rainbows" and even with today's faster/better color wheels, I usually experience some form of eye fatigue or headache with DLP. It's a shame, because DLP can produce some amazing image quality and fantastic blacks, too.

I ended up buying a JVC RS-2 D-ILA (LCOS) projector, and I really like it. Very smooth image, high pixel fill factor, and 30,000:1 contrast ratio. It's projecting onto a 110" diagonal Da-Lite High Power Screen, which adds some gain to the image.

Here is a pic of it; it's mounted on the ceiling and fires through a porthole, into the theater:

Well, I ended up getting the W1070 in the end. Couldn't turn it down for £500 with free 5yr warranty and glasses. Was very impressed with what I saw. I did notice some faint rainbowing during the B&W scene from Casino Royale but nothing serious. The night time scenes looked gorgeous. Will take her home in a little while and set up.

****UPDATE****Decided to demo some of my 3D discs, starting with Star Trek: Into Darkness.
All I can say is WOW the 3D images were off the hook. The black levels and shadow detail were superb.
I also tried Planet Dinosaur and this was unbelievable, true 3D.
I had always enjoyed watching 3D on my plasma but this was in a different league altogether. Truly like being at the cinema.

Happy to hear that!

The w1070 is a no brainer at that price.

Sure, it's a bit louder than others, and maybe you have the rainbow effect.

But picture quality and low inputlag are for me so import. This is where the w1070 exceeds the competition at that price.

Enjoy! Just like I am ;-)

Not too much noise from mine. There is some heat and light leakage from the front, but wont be much of an issue after I ceiling mount it this evening.

My projector is a BenqW1070 with a 97inch screen

I have a very similar ceiling mount to yourself. However, the extension tube on my one is far too short. I need to fabricate an extention as I require at least 12 inches. At the moment I'm getting quite a strong trapezoidal distortion on my new 106" screen.
Just finished watching Terminator Salvation and it looked AMAZING.

Have new mount arriving tomorrow.

Edit....
Purchased a new, longer ceiling mount. Zero distortion and super steady. Fully adjustable.

My New setup. BenQ W1070 (top) for movie watching (2D/3D) Hitachi PJ-TX200 (bottom) for SKY HD, BBC Sport HD and Netflix HD. LG PH660V Plasma for General TV.

Looking forward to watching England VS Uruguay on this tomorrow night. Watched some of Belgium Vs Algeria on this last night and was blown away at just how good HD broadcast Footie looked on this. I could see every blade of grass. Not bad for an 8 year old 720P Projector.
