Oh wow, I knew all of that, but it's so great to see a director try to educate the general viewers, not even Nolan or Scorsese took the time to make something like this...
But it's kinda funny how after decades of everyone pushing the wide-screen format, now some directors prefer the 4:3, which is 1.33, not far from 1.43:1 that's just been given a fancy new copyrighted name 'IMAX' - it's your good old square telly!
Wow! Just got out of this. You should try your best to see this on this biggest screen possible. You will not be sorry you did. I usually deliberate over a films qualities but this is an absolute instant classic. I'm not your typical horror fan either!
This is an interesting one. It's a borderline masterpiece with this visuals and music. Saw it in IMAX and it blew me away. The first half is a bit of a slow burn and yet still I found myself wanting more from these characters to get me to care about them for when things get going. I also wish we were able to see a little more differences between the brothers personalities to tell them apart (besides the red/blue wardrobes).
I'm very curious how people felt about that one scene where Preacher Boy is playing his song and it transcends time showing music from the past and future...
It was a very bold choice by Coogler that might have worked better for me if it was expressed with JUST the music rather than having the visuals to go along with it. Seeing that modern guitarist in his crazy outfit, and the turntables etc, kind of took me out of the film for a bit. Just me?
All that said. This was a really good film by a really great film-maker.
Well, what can I say that people above already haven't. I was not interested in this as the trailers didn't hook me, but my son was keen to see it, and it did not disappoint at all. I do love vampire movies, and this is one is certainly near if not at the top of the list. Also love blues music, and this film has music with substance in spades.

I saw the first reactions to this film putting Coogler up there with Nolan and Denis, absolute crazy talk. Nolan and Denis didn't put in all that work to be mentioned next to this guy. Madness.
It's a well made film and some of the music is really good. It's a slog to sit through. The first half of the film is painfully slow, second half is pretty good. It isn't a film that you need a million different viewing options for.

Yeah the hype this film is getting is way over the top. It's okay enough but let's be honest it's basically the same film as From Dusk Till Dawn
I didn't know anything about the film until it was close to release and started seeing the marketing which did make it look really good, great cast and then you see the reviews and you think it's going to be this film of the year contender and then yeah left feeling a little flat
Actually think the post credit scene was one of the best bits
