Imagine if you bought a TV only to find scratches on the screen when it gets delivered to your house. You contact the shop and they tell you oh yes we're aware it's a problem with a number of those models, we've had a lot of complaints. Please bear with us while we investigate......

Rubbish.

Its an insult to that customer to string them along. Any retailer would sort out the complaint immediately.

If there's a problem with the supplier or their warehouse, its sorted out in house without involving the customer.

Agreed. The onus is on Zavvi to placate their customer, first and foremost. THEN find out where the issue arose and claim back any lost revenue.

Keeping some customers hanging while issuing random partial refunds to others is just exacerbating this sh*t show.

Standard Zavvi guesswork really.

I apparently had 2 Red Carpet subscriptions which I didn't realise until they took money for a renewal when I had at least 10 months left, contacted them and got the "sad to see you go" email cancelling the 12 month sub but no refund, contacted them again and they said "don't worry, you haven't paid for the sub". Now waiting for a response after sending them all the proof that my PayPal payment was taken the day I originally contacted them.

In fairness to Zavvi, they can't really do anything until they get a resolution, whilst dealing with multiple different company's. Going to Trading Standards at this point seems a bit OTT. Surely its better to see what they come up with.

I think that’s a bad example though. Any electronics company will have the stock to replace the TV. and If they don’t have that model they will help you out with a item of similar cost. You may even have to wait 2 more weeks for delivery (happened to me with very . co.uk - had to deliver a new one nearly 3 weeks later)
With this situation they need to get everything reprinted again.

otherwise it’s keep the item and accept the partial refund or send it back for a full refund. Which some are accepting and that’s standard.

so different to your example

The scratches are under the paint so that gives us a bit of a clue as to what stage of the process.
[/QUOTE]

Are you saying that these are not surface scratches but scratches made by the manufacturer or scratches on the template before the primer, the paint and the varnish was put on?

Surely not.
As the scratches are so faint on most examples that they can only be seen by tilting the steelbook under a spotlight they look to me very much like surface scratches:-

There's no difference to my example.
Please re read your last paragraph......

Partial refund or return for full refund.

Not asking you to wait for the outcome of some random investigation which you don't even know what's happening with it.

Steelbook, TV, Car etc.... There's no excuse for this nonsense.

People can of course accept a full refund and return the steelbook or a partial refund and keep the scratched steelbook or accept any other option currently on the table but I'm happy to wait for an investigation to be completed in the hope that a reprint will take place and I'll receive a mint example.

The point here is that people who have asked to return the damaged steelbook have been denied their rights (like me) and have been rejected with the 'waiting for the investigation' to be completed, it is this reply which break the law. If you ask to return a faulty or damaged item, the retailer MUST accept if you ask for it, they can offer a replacement or refund. What they can't do is deny you your UK statutory rights as a consumer.

If people want to wait to see if a replacement or some other solution is offered if they wish to keep their steelbook, then that's fine, wait, I mean it; only been 16 days and counting since release....took ES 2 days so sort out their Jack Reacher problem, so no rush.

there is mate. The difference is the sheer number of items damaged. If this was an electronics company with 2000+ damaged TVs there’d also be an investigation going on.

my last paragraph is fine. People were being offered partial refunds or full refunds before this became massive. Now it’s an investigation and it’s all on hold. People just need to be patient until they work out what’s going to happen.

not every company works the same. Patience is needed. And you just know people are constantly messaging them about empire. Constantly

My issue ( and many others) is that zavvi aren't even allowing the option of a return or refund which is disgraceful. Most of us are stuck with a damaged copy with no reasonable level of customer service provided :banghead:

Jesus Christ LOL.
It’s not that deep. They are holding investigations. They will still accept your return after its over. Look at the number of customers they are dealing with and I bet the majority are as aggy with them as you are.
Stop acting like your high and mighty, stop with the legal bullish!t and let them get on. Whatever happens, they will still deal with your replacement/ refund or partial at the end of it.

all this legal stuff makes it longer for them to deal with the actual issue.

but they will deal with it after this investigation is over. It’s not hard to comprehend

If people want a full refund for receiving a damaged steelbook, Zavvi have to comply.
If people want a partial refund, your choice but you are at the lap of the Zavvi robot spin the wheel discount code Gods.
If people are hoping for an undamaged replacement copy, it's too early to say whether a re-print has been decided on and patience will be required.

The investigation was completed a long time ago though and using my many years of experience in the industry, I have decided to share with you how exactly the conversations in the investigation went.

Disney to Scanavo: How dare you screw up our most important steelbook ever. We went to great trouble to pick out the most exciting and appropriate artwork for this one.

Scanavo: It's not our fault, your artwork came with scratches. Vinny the Van driver caused them in transit by driving too fast. It was the Darkside of the force.

Disney: You puny little insects. We will buy your whole operation, then destroy every last one of you.

Zavvi: What about us?

Disney and Scanavo together: Shut up Zavvi, grown-ups are talking here.

Zavvi: Malfunction, does not compute.

Scanavo: Will someone please turn off that stupid Zavvi robot?

A huge mouse then appears and crushes the Zavvi robot with only its fist.

Ok there might have been some very minor exaggerations there, but basically an otherwise accurate representation of the high-level conversations following the disaster that is this steelbook.

I received mine today. Has minor scratches, not very noticeable, but still there - pretty much the same as everyone else. Should I let contact zavvi now? Or wait for a resolution and then contact them? Don’t want it to be a “you should’ve told us .... days ago” type of situation.

Contact Zavvi now don't wait or they may assume you received a undamaged steelbook
