Star Wars: Episode VII Set 30 Years After Return of the Jedi, Will Feature Heroic Trio

http://www.comingsoon.net/news/movienews.php?id=116155

Walt Disney Pictures and Lucasfilm today revealed that, as has long been expected, their Star Wars: Episode VII will begin production at London's historic Pinewood Studios in May. What's more, they've confirmed that the action in the sequel will be set 30 years after the events of Return of the Jedi and that the storyline follows "a trio of new young leads along with some very familiar faces."

Directed by J.J. Abrams and written by Abrams and Lawrence Kasdan, Star Wars: Episode VII is rumored to include appearances by Mark Hamill, Carrie Fisher and Harrison Ford in older incarnations of their beloved characters from the original Star Wars trilogy. The film will hit theaters on December 18, 2015.

I just think all this is too little too late. I hated the last 3 films so much. To say I found them insulting was an understatement. I just think the franchise is too badly damaged to recover from those 3 films and having Abrams on board worries me even more. He hasn't done one thing yet I've liked. Time to dig out my CAV laserdisc of Star Wars and enjoy. and remember the good times.

I completely agree with psychoscot, JJ did an amazing job with Star Trek and I have full faith he can revitalize Star Wars with an interesting story and awesome visuals.

100% agree  He's the only choice I want for this film. His 2 Star Trek films are by far the best Trek films next to First Contact.

I personally think he will make the new film far more in keeping with the darker tones of the original 3 "Ewoks aside lol" His film will appeal to adults as well as kids, where as those last 3 abominations were made for 4 year olds. The fact he is continuing the story after Jedi means I can happily forget what George did to his own franchise.

Will it be better than Empire, probably not. Could JJ possibly make this better than 4 or 6? Quite possibly.

I saw the first 3 when released when very young and the franchise is borderline religious for me, but with rose tinted glasses removed, I DO think there is tons more to tell within this mythical world, and I'm glad it's not George behind the lens!

Our First Look at Star Wars: Episode VII's Chewbacca?

Lucasfilm debuted a new photo on their Instagram account featuring Disney Chairman and Chief Executive Officer Bob Iger and an unnamed Wookie, whom many believe might be our first look at actor Peter Mayhew in the Chewbacca costume once again.

According to Ain't It Cool News, the working title for the new Star Wars is...

Star Wars: Episode VII - The Ancient Fear.

Hey folks, Harry here... in response to my article earlier today a new source has come forward to confirm information that I've been sitting on for over a month. As I've said - getting confirmation has been a *****. I know lots of people in JJ's camp - including JJ... but when I put the title to JJ... he never even responded. That alone was suspicious. But my original source had told me back in January that Abu Dhabi was a location, and when that came to be, he sent me a scoop that the title for STAR WARS EPISODE VII was THE ANCIENT FEAR.

I ran it by everyone in the editorial chatroom. Beaks, Merrick, Quint, Capone... everyone... and they rattled their sources cages - and couldn't get confirmation... BUT tonight... a source that I'm told to call Col. Mustard claimed completely on his own that "the working title" was THE ANCIENT FEAR....

He also stated that "it refers to Max Von Sydow's villain who makes Pazuzu look like a *****!"

Now - let's see what happens to the working title. Personally... I love it!
