Also just realised this was the guy behind Dark Pheonix... even though I didn't hate it as much as others, I'm still hesitant that these will be great with him at the helm. Could do with someone with a little more experienced IMO... maybe someone like one of the billions of directors they already parted ways with

He's just writing and producing. Not directing. Dark Phoenix was his first film that he ever directed so they will hopefully find someone more talented in that area.
The movies that he has written has been such a mixed bag. Some Great. Some Bad.
