When will we be charged for these in the uk will it be on dispatch.
I've never been charged for a pre order before dispatch , and I've not been for this.
But I've seen in previous posts people who had been charged for certain items not this particular item.

it depends on the website, Amazon charge when they dispatch the item so you will not get charged until a few days before the release date. Some sites charge when you order your item and if you pay by PayPal you get charged straight away

There was a period when Amazon sporadically charged on pre-order, instead of the usual dispatch. Also happened to me on a few orders. I don’t remember if it was deliberately or an error but anyway after a short period this stopped happening and now it’s charge on dispatch only.

That was months ago and was sorted it was a technical error that affected a small number of accounts
Majority of customers was not affected
Error was fixed a good few months ago during the summer

I think it maybe the special editions, so I'll wait until reviews come in for the release.
I already own the blu rays so I can watch the despecialized edition and the 4k77 4k80 and 4k83 releases of the orginal films and the 1997 special edition remaster.
My dad might get it since he's a star wars nut, but i'm not sure at $250 since he's currently on a money freeze. At least its not $550 like the MCU boxset, but it still feels overpriced (as I don't care for the sequels or the recent special editions).

Looks quite good but tbh bit saying that. The LOTR hobbit bookcase collection set the level for me with complete editions like this. Probs still stick a preliminary order in as I love Star Wars

As crazy as all that probably sounds to most people, I understand it completely, because I'm similar lol. I buy anything and everything Star Wars, or at least I used to... I've cut down a lot now, although not really out of choice, but because I no longer have the funds or space for it all.

Still got all my VHS tapes of which I have multiple different sets like yourself. Would love to get them all out someday and have a shelf (or five) dedicated to just Star Wars.

Do you own the fan made Despecialized blus at all? I've been tempted to pick them up a few times, but was hoping Disney would release the original cuts eventually... that's not looking very likely now though unfortunately.

Can't actually remember the last time I saw the original cuts, but I must've been fairly young, as I honestly can't remember all the differences now. I watch the blus (of the prequel trilogy) every year though.

Think I'll finally take the plunge and pick up those Despecialized versions this year, once Disney officially confirm these new sets are the same edited cuts we've seen re-release after re-release for.
i appreciate that after your post, @ethnosax's helpful info, and others, this may now be a bit low-res, but some years ago i tracked down copies of the last time the uncut editions were released on DVD, which was the first time the special editions were released. the original films - unspecialised and as seen in theatres - are on second discs. of course, on modern tvs, this means you get black bars above, below, and the sides EEK!.

i still haven't see Star The Rise of Skywalker Wars, but have been watching the whole saga to date again chronologically, and the Lucasised aspects of the special editions seriously wind me up (the worst offender for me is the pointless massive echoey shriek Old Ben gives to the sandpeople. and Greedo shooting. and all of Darth's 'Noooooo!'s in Jedi . and... damn, this could go on for some time), so i may well look at those editions you highlighted.

but if you or anyone else ever wants those DVDs - hey, someone might! - this may help:
  • For Star Wars IV: A New Hope (Limited Edition): ASIN number: B000FMH8UI, manufacturer code(on base of spine): 3391901001
  • For Star Wars V: The Empire Strikes Back (Limited Edition): ASIN number: B000FMH8US, manufacturer code(on base of spine): 3392001001
  • For Star Wars VI: Return of the Jedi (Limited Edition): ASIN number: B000FMRYNE, manufacturer code(on base of spine): 3392101001
Give me the original 3 films as they were originally shown in the cinema as a stand alone 4k set and I'll bite. A kind of 21st century version of the CAV laserdisc box set. Zero interest in the rest of them.
the above is decidedly not 4K , but otherwise are as shown in cinemas. i anticipate it's nowhere near as good as the laserdic edition, though! :)

With some Blu-ray players (at least with OPPO models) you'd probably be able zoom the image to fill the width of the screen.

Works fine, e.g., with The Abyss DVD.

Yeah, you can zoom the image, I used to watch those DVDs that way on the PS3.

I still own them (in fact I replaced the awful blu rays in the steelbooks with them), but if I want to watch the OT these days I just watch the Despecialized versions

They came out on laserdisc first in special CAV box sets which are awesome. Even on my 55 inch Sony OLED the picture quality is amazing for something pressed in 1995. The laserdiscs are the ones to have. They got the full THX treatment.

4K release of all 9 films is 27 discs and is exclusive to Amazon UK in UK
9 4K UHD Discs (Films)
9 Blu-ray Discs (Films + Extras)
9 Bonus Blu-ray Discs (Extras)

Blu-ray is included as Extras are on both the Blu-ray disc of films and Bonus Blu-ray Discs
There will be extras that was not included in previous Blu-ray releases

Each film has as Bonus Extras Blu-ray Disc in Box set
So I'm pretty new to the whole blu ray thing. The 27 disc box set also has the movies in a " normal" version as well as the 4k ones? Meaning the only difference between the 18 disc and the 27 is the 4k dvds? Because I only owned regular dvd's before without any specials safe for deleted scenes and I wanna splurge on blu ray now that all movies are out but 180 pounds is a lot of money and I don't need the 4k, regular blu ray is fine. I just don't want to miss out on any specials/extras.
