Yeah there wasn't a lot from the trailers in the movie. Seems like most movies are like that anymore so people can't say all the good stuff is in the trailer.

It almost makes sense for Vader to have a castle on Mustafar. You know how much brooding he must do with what happened to him on that planet. It would be the perfect place to grow in the dark side.

Krennic was pretty ruthless. He completely got outplayed by Tarkin though. I've heard the recent novel Catalyst delves into the rivalry between the two.

I just wanted to know what those stormtroopers said because it sounded like they mentioned they were decommissioning something and I thought maybe they were referencing their blasters...which would explain why they can't hit anything, ha ha.

So my nephew used to be super into dinosaurs and he always wanted these Jurassic World lego sets. I wanted to get him Star Wars legos for Christmas, but got him this TRex set. Today he was over and said he doesn't really play with dinosaurs anymore and would rather have Star Wars legos. I immediately unwrapped his present, went to the store and got the clone turbo tank set, ha ha.

Ha, ha.Yes! I love it! My nephew really likes SW too.

That castle just makes me want to see a stand alone Vader movie more and more. I mean how often does he go to this thing? I'd really love a Vader movie either between ANH and Empire or between Empire and Jedi. The castle was first drawn by Ralph McQuarrie to be used in ESB, so they had this idea for a long time now.

I knew Krennic was going to get outplayed by Tarkin, but then it was cool to see him running off to Vader trying to go over Tarkin's head and Vader sides with Tarkin. I absolutely loved that line "be careful not to choke on your aspirations" Vader gives as he's choking Krennic.

Another scene I wanted to see that was cut was that one were you see Krennic walking through the water with his cape dragging through it moving towards the shore while he's surrounded by dead stormtroopers and burning stuff. Besides deleted scenes, I'm hoping we get an additional cut of the film altogether on Blu. It seems a lot of movies are doing that nowadays.

I almost guarantee their 1:2 Vader will be over $2.5K! I can easily see them trying to get away with $3,000.

If I did a 1:1 Superman I would just buy a high quality costume and a dummy then get someone to sculpt a head for me. I guarantee that would be much cheaper than those $4K versions.

Yes! What did you think? I'm guessing you loved it?? And I'm guessing you figured out the Vader scene was the one I knew you would love! Sorry there was no Batman. :p

Ah, I didn't know that about MR. You're going to get Jyn? Will you get K-2SO as well?

I'm glad we can talk about it now! I agree with everything you said. That end scene on the beach was just fantastic. The entire end fight was amazing to me especially since they all knew they were going to die. Their sacrifice was a story worth being told. Jyn didn't want anything to do with a cause at the beginning so I loved that her character grew that much.

Krennic was kind of a weakling, I was wondering if Josh was going to be disappointed in him, ha. Definitely awesome that he was killed by his own weapon. Did you like the CGI on Tarkin and Leia? I thought it was a little off. How cool was it that they had unused footage to get the X-Wing pilots into the movie?? Did you noticed they really focused on Red Five being killed? That end battle was just awesome, I love my space battles!

I think Cassian actually might have been my least favorite of the group. I'd have to watch it again, but I couldn't even remember his name after the movie so he didn't stand out much to me. I loved K-2SO, his humor fit in well and wasn't over the top.

You know, all of the crew were great. I didn't feel for any one of them less than the other. Each one of them had my emotions going full tilt once they all came together during the Jedha escape.

That's funny because when they mentioned Red 5, my wife and I looked at each other, lol!

I'd like to get the whole crew in some form. May have to go the HT route in order to do it tho.

I can't even put into words how much I loved this movie. I think I might have liked it more than TFA. I think because I had lower expectations out of this movie it really helped. And they really did keep a lot of the awesome stuff out of the trailers.

Where to start, I think Baze and Chirrut were my favorite characters. Again, I wasn't expecting that much out of them but they were just really awesome. I was rollin' at the part where they were trying to put a bag over Chirrut's head . I'd say I liked Jyn just about as much as Rey. The big thing for me was I was a bit worried about not being able to fully get into these characters because nobody had a lightsaber LOL. Its like something I NEED when I see Star Wars. But I moved on from that really quickly.

Is it just me or did it seem like Tarkin was in this more than he was in ANH? I didn't time his scenes or anything, but just going by the first viewing he seemed to be in quite a bit.

If they go $3K on that thing there will be people outside with torches and pitchforks lol. But now that I'm thinking about it more you could be right.

There is no way I'd spend $4K on that Superman either. If you do decide to build one yourself though I can't wait to see pics!

Yup, absolutely loved it!

I instantly knew that Vader scene was the scene you were talking about. That scene was like a childhood dream come true! I am bummed there was no Batman though :p. I have to deduct 5 points from the overall score because of it lol.

I actually liked Krennic LOL. I thought he had a couple good scenes with Tarkin, and I thought getting killed by the Death Star was a fitting way for him to go.

I thought Tarkin's CGI was pretty good. Not 100% in ever scene, but for creating an actor thats been dead for more than 20 years I was really impressed. I think in another 5 years from now that technology will be pretty much perfected. I think Leia looked good, but not as good as Tarkin. It was really awesome seeing Threepio and Artoo in this also. I thought they were going to save them for the last shot though.

The X-Wing pilots were a complete surprise for me! I literally never thought of them in this. Also it was awesome to see Doctor Evazan and Ponda Baba as well.

Okay, so no one wants to talk about freaking Darth Vader's Castle??? They totally pulled that out of the old canon and recanonized it this time on Mustafar. That was so freaking awesome! And its making me want a stand alone Vader movie even more!

Dude! About crapped my pants when they showed Mustafar. And then the castle, OMG! Reminded me of Dooku's castle on Serreno. I will say this, they started the movie out by naming the planets, and at some point they stopped. Not sure why. Unless I missed it, Mustafar and Scariff were the only 2 planets they didn't name for the viewer. I agree though, we need a Vader standalone movie. I'd rather have it be shortly after ROTS however.

It definitely felt like Tarkin talked more in this than he did ANH, but I could be wrong. There was definitely more of him than I expected!

Oh yeah I totally noticed Doctor Evazan and Ponda Baba, ha. I totally had their PotF action figures!

I'll be honest, I never knew Vader ever had a castle. Don't judge me. Was it not always on Mustafar?

So I really think after this movie that they need to release the original trilogy with Han shooting Greedo first. I mean if they can have Cassian cold bloodedly shooting an ally in the back then they need to fix that Han scene! I like how they blurred the lines with the rebels showing that they've done some terrible stuff as well...

Did you see this: https://www.comicbookmovie.com/scif...t-moments-from-the-rogue-one-trailers-a147536

The #1 is very interesting. We heard there were reshoots and now we have to wonder if they originally had someone surviving. I'd really like to know! I also read Felicity Jones is signed on to appear in another movie so I'm guessing she'll pop up in the Han Solo movie at some point.

I have one question maybe one of you guys can answer: right before the rebels attack on Scariff there's a brief scene where two stormtroopers are talking. One of them says something along the lines of "did you hear the rumor..." and I missed what they said. Did either of you catch that?

Speaking of troopers, the death trooper specialists were actually pretty badass. I was a little disappointed we didn't see more of the shoretroopers though.

I think those troopers were talking about their blasters. I'll have to watch it again, but not until Blu. I did notice, however, one of the Stormtroopers early on sounded just like a Clone from TCW. I mean exactly. I wonder if it was intentional or just happen to sound like one.

We talked about the missing scenes on the way home. Funny because we did the same thing after TFA. I will say I like R1 more than TFA and I absolutely loved TFA. For me, it was the most emotional SW movie to date. And when Vader had his moment, my eyes swelled up big time! ROTS is still my #1 movie, but R1 pulls at my heart strings more.

Am I the only one who has been watching that Vader moment over and over?

That Rebel yelling in terror at the end, "Laaaaaaaaaaaaunch!!!!!"

That last scene is just so awesome. I want SS to make a R1 dio of that scene and have Vader holding that guy up on the ceiling while he's continuing to deflect blaster shots. I think that ending scene is my favorite scene in all of SW. I'm so glad they went all out for it! I have to say I was worried when he ignited his saber I thought they might have just cut to the credits right then.

Yeah I think I liked this more than TFA too. And I totally called it that they would all die! LOL.

I'd love a Vader movie after ROTS too. Anywhere in the saga would really do for me, just as long as we get it. But I'm also hoping they eventually re-canonize Shadows of the Empire, and give it to us on the big screen. Vader was in that a lot! Actually, everyone is in it, except Han who is still frozen in carbonite. They got to hurry up and come up with something while we still have JEJ alive and willing to do more Vader stuff. We could get maybe another 3 or 4 movies out of him.

I think they purposely didn't name Mustafar so they could get in there and show off the lava and have the audience discover where they were. I guess I missed them not naming Scariff. The castle was a real shocker for me though, and probably my favorite shocker, I just need to see more of that again in more movies.

Yeah, I never thought of Vader having an actual home. Makes sense though. And, I love what they did with putting it on Mustafar.

You know, speaking JEJ, was it just me or did it not sound like him in R1? Sounded different. I wonder if that was on purpose. Thoughts?

Haha! You did call it! For the record, I called it that Galen purposely put that flaw in the Death Star.

OMG! That would have been terrible if they rolled credits after that! The millions of fan boys crying out in terror, ! I still can't get enough of that scene. It's just so perfect! Terrifying, and perfect!

I'm so happy they went with Mustafar. Its just begging for another movie to go back there. i need to see more of that castle, and who was that dude that was kneeling in the robe?

He did sound different, but it was definitely him. I don't think it was on purpose, I think its just that he's 85. He sounded a lot different to me in Rebels as well.

I remember you calling that!

I would have been so pissed! I was legitimately thinking it though for a second. And then I thought it was going to happen again when they yelled "open fire" and then you saw the blasts firing towards you. I think I was just so worried all along that we weren't going to get this scene because it wasn't in any of the trailers. I'm so glad they didn't put any of it in there, but I think if they would have they would have gotten even more people to see this that were on the fence for whatever reason.

It was a shocker for sure! I had no idea. I thought it was going to be Stormies coming in like in ANH. Having the end of that hall pitch black was perfect. Then the breathing. Then the saber. Deflecting blaster bolts. Slicing that dude he had in the ceiling has he passed under. And, all the screams! Gives me chills!

Yeah, he does sound different in Rebels too.

I was wondering that too. My wife is getting me the visual dictionary for Xmas, and maybe it shows who he is in it.

Once I saw the black hallway and then the breathing I was already losing my sh*t. Once he lit the saber I was making sounds similar to what could only be called an audible seizure .

I really love the part where that dude is pressed up against the door and then you see Vader's saber go through him and the door.

Ooooh! That will be an awesome gift. Does that mean you are actually going to read something, or are you just going to look at all the pretty pictures? :p

The pretty pictures of course! You know, when I got the visual dictionaries for Eps 1,2,and 3 I read everything from cover to cover and memorized it all. With the TFA one, I didn't do any of that. Weird because I love the movie.

The whole scene was just so epic! The screams of horror from the Rebel Soldiers was my favorite. Those actors seems genuinely scared. That guy at the end that yells, "Laaaaaaaaaaaaunch!" gives me chills every time.

I have the full clip I posted above saved on my IG account. I've watched it almost 200 times now.

Maybe its a sign that as you are getting older you are getting lazier LOL. I hope its like that for everyone. The thought of reaching a level of laziness thats higher than it is for me right now actually kind of excites me .

I just can't wait till the Blu comes out! It'll probably come out in April like TFA did. I'm kinda bummed we didn't get an Ep. VIII teaser though.

Oh that's interesting about the castle, I like that they used an original idea. I would still like to hear what Lucas would have done with episodes VII-IX if he had done them.

That video is so epic, I watched it five times in a row after you posted it! How did that leak already??

I think they stopped naming the planets because they verbally referenced those two so they probably didn't feel the need to put the planet names on there.

If they would have cut to the credits right when he lit his lightsaber there would have been theaters full of SW geeks Vader yelling "NOOOOOOOOOOOOO!"

What would you want a Vader movie to be about if they did one between episodes III and IV?

I loved Shadows of the Empire! The only bad thing about that movie is they would have to recast all of the characters with younger actors and at this point I think they should just leave that era alone. I still haven't gotten to a point where I'll accept a different Han Solo actor, don't make me accept a different Luke and Leia too! I don't like that Disney wiped out all of the extended universe, there were such good stories and it seems like most of the newer books being released now are getting bad reviews. I'm guessing Disney won't let the authors write about the main characters in case they want to recast them and make younger movies of them...which again I disagree with. I do fully support a Vader or Obi-Wan movie in between ROTS and ANH though. I did see there's a new Thrawn book coming out, wonder what that will be about.

My votes for books turned into movies would be Deception with Darth Malgus or the Darth Bane trilogy!

I'm so happy they went with Mustafar. Its just begging for another movie to go back there. i need to see more of that castle, and who was that dude that was kneeling in the robe?

Yeah I noticed he sounded different too and I'm guessing it has to do with how old JEJ is these days.

You should have known that scene was going to play out since I told you there was a scene at the end you would love. ;)

Ah, I should have known. I guess it was my own fear of thinking that my ideal dream scene was going to be too good to be true, but then it was true and it was so good!

I will always be interested in what Lucas's VII-IX would have been like too. I've already heard fans bashing Vader's R1 dialogue that it was too Lucasy .

I think I'd like to see maybe Vader hunting down a super powerful Jedi. It could be a new character we haven't seen yet, I'm sure they could come up with something. I guess he could just be out there doing his thing slaughtering Rebels too, but I'd like to see a lightsaber fight in there somehow. Or I'd like to see them recanonize Starkiller again and go that route for a movie or two.

I think I'd even take an 80% good CGI Luke, Leia and Han over having any of them recast. A SotE movie would be a dream come true for me though. I think if I got to see that I'd know when I died that my life was fully fulfilled. I think its time for me to go find and dust off my N64 this weekend and do a full play through of Shadows.

I think Darth Bane will get put into a movie eventually, but I think that they are too afraid to move away from the core saga right now. I think they'll muster up some courage to do it eventually though. Maybe in another decade or so.

We have confirmation that the main characters were originally supposed to survive the movie: http://www.theverge.com/2016/12/20/14022380/rogue-one-ending-original-different-gareth-Edwards

Dude I love the N64 SotE game! That and Rogue Squadron I played constantly in high school. Man I might have to get another N64. I miss Mario Kart too. I actually entered a N64 Mario Kart tournament in college, ha ha. I barely lost in the first round to a giant douche.

Have you ever read Deceived (it's not called Deception, whoops)? You should check that one out. Darth Malgus orchestrates an attack on the Jedi temple on Coruscant. Plus he's just as badass as Vader.

Is Ahsoka still alive? I haven't kept up with any of the animated stuff so I'm out of the loop on her. Could he possibly square off with her between episodes III-IV? Or dare I say Darth Maul?

Thats interesting. I'm kind of shocked Disney was alright with it, I would have thought Edwards would have had to beg and plead to have Disney let them all die in the end. I think they made the right choice, it really makes everything make sense.

Ha ha! Thats funny!

I love Rogue Squadron too! Now that I bring up N64 I have to bring up the story again when I sold my SNES and all the games so I could afford Diddy Kong Racing for N64 . That will forever be one of the stupidest things I've ever done. But a few years later I was able to get a brand new Sega Genesis from Toys R Us for only $30! And I was able to rebuy some of my favorites plus ones that weren't on SNES. So in the end its okay I guess. I also still have my original NES. I haven't turned it on in probably almost 2 decades though :ohno:, I have no idea if it works.

I haven't read any Malgus stuff. I've never played that game that he was in either :bag:. But I do want to get into the character, and I could use a new SW book so I'll definitely get it. Is there anything I have to read before it?

I haven't really been following Rebels. I tune in when there is a big Maul or Vader fight but thats it, so I have no idea if Ahsoka lived or not. If she did that would be great for a Vader stand alone movie. Obviously I'd love a Maul and Vader fight on the big screen but I think thats supposed to happen this season of Rebels so they can kill Maul off again.

But speaking of Rebels Pablo Hidalgo confirmed The Ghost (the ship from Rebels) is in Rogue One:

Maybe its a sign that as you are getting older you are getting lazier LOL. I hope its like that for everyone. The thought of reaching a level of laziness thats higher than it is for me right now actually kind of excites me .

I just can't wait till the Blu comes out! It'll probably come out in April like TFA did. I'm kinda bummed we didn't get an Ep. VIII teaser though.

I was bummed about that too. Not to mention no Star Wars popping on the screen and the terrible font for "Rogue One." I expected an opening like TCW since there would be no crawl, but it was just a little off putting to me. Minor minor gripe though. I hope we get the Blu in April too. That will be the next time I see it.

Haha! I am very lazy.

I'd like to see Vader in the early days of the Republic hunting down Jedi and the formation of the Inquisitors. Or, a story similar to TFA with Sam back as Starkiller. There's a tone that can be done in all those years. Look what they got out of the 3 years between Clones and Sith.

Ah, I should have known. I guess it was my own fear of thinking that my ideal dream scene was going to be too good to be true, but then it was true and it was so good!

It will be nice when they finally do that. Looking back at the KOTOR games and those stories were so epic. People want it. Fans want it.

Too Lucasy? WTF? It was classic Vader FFS!

Ahsoka is alive. I don't know if she has appeared in season 3 of Rebels though. Her and Vader fought in the season 2 ender and it was epic. Filoni has said that Maul and Vader will face off this season. I don't think Maul will die. Not yet.

I haven't read Deceived either, but I've watched that Old Republic trailer 1000 times, !

And everyone was so concerned that Disney wouldn't allow directors to show their own vision of a movie. Well done! I knew Edwards would deliver a gritty dark movie. Thankfully the studio trusted him.

I actually caught it in the movie along with what looked like Chopper in the hangar on Yavin 4. Lso, can't be sure, but I think I heard General Syndulla announced in the hangar on Yavin 4 too. Not sure how many other Rebels references are in it though.

Apparently he didn't think they'd let him kill everyone either since he originally had it ending with some of them surviving. The film wouldn't have been as impactful if they had survived.

Oh no, that was a huge mistake. Diddy Kong racing was a pretty big letdown. At least it sort of worked out in the end.

I think the book was sort of a backstory for the game. You definitely don't have to read anything beforehand. I read it with no background knowledge and enjoyed it.

That's pretty cool they put that Rebels easter egg in there. I really need to catch up on all the animated stuff one of these days. Football is over in a few weeks and then I'm dropping cable so I'll have time!

Vader hunting down Jedi would be a great story, I would definitely watch that. You know I was watching AotC and RotS this weekend and in AotC Anakin just jumps out of the speeder on Coruscant and falls forever before landing on Zam Wesell's speeder. Then when Mace Windu gets flung out that window I started wondering why he couldn't survive that if Anakin managed to live...I know he didn't but it was just a thought.

Man I need to watch these animated shows to get all the references!

I really didn't know what to expect once I heard they weren't doing a crawl. I would have definitely preferred a crawl verses no crawl, but the movie was so phenomenal I was able to move past it very quickly.

The time period between ROTS and ANH is just ripe for so many stories from so many characters.

Its at a point now where no matter what people are going to find a way to bash George. i just don't understand how anyone can call themselves a fan while hating George Lucas.

I'm definitely going to be on the lookout for a few things my next viewing. I'm hoping to see it at least one more time in the theater.

What season of Rebels are they in? The last Ep I think I saw was the Vader/Ahsoka fight. Might have watched a Maul one recently too, can't remember though. I think I'm just waiting for a Rebels box set when the show ends.

I completely agree. I would still like to know the full details of the original ending, maybe we'll hear more about it in the Blu-ray commentary.

In Star Wars they can bring anyone back from the dead if there is enough demand from the fans. I wouldn't be shocked if in a few years we find out Mace is still alive. I think George told Sam Jackson that Mace was still alive too.

I barely know anything about Rebels, just the name of their ship, and I think I know most of their names.

I don't like that George Lucas tinkered with the originals even though I understand they were his and he wanted them a certain way. But I was watching RotS on Saturday and thinking damn, this is a great movie. I don't get all the hate he got for the prequels. I've heard rumors that a company is trying to convert the original unaltered trilogy into 4K...I would have to buy a 4K TV and player if that happens!

They should make a young Mace Windu movie, I would watch that. Although I'm not sure what the Jedis did before the Clone Wars started. Seemed like a lot of peace and sitting around, ha ha. I'm sure there were always planet disputes they got involved with, probably nothing worth making into a movie.

So I thought I'd share this:

He looks so awesome! Huge congrats! Love the art box too. Is he all polystone? I'm now starting to regret not ordering him and Spidey. The two pair up really nice together and now Spider-Man's base makes sense.

I did get my Wolverine last Friday but I still haven't gotten a chance to open him up yet. I've got shipping boxes full of Christmas gifts taking up most my room and the path to the Besta he's going in, so I won't be able to open him up until I can get all of those gifts out of there, which won't be until the weekend. I've got so much wrapping to do before then :grumpy:. I still got to finish my Christmas shopping too.

If Star Wars gets the 4K treatment then I will definitely get a 4K TV. I'll get one eventually anyways, but since my TV doesn't need to be replaced yet I'm just going to wait until it does.

A young Mace movie could be cool, but I wouldn't want to see anyone else play him other than Samuel L Jackson. Its like, stop recasting my Star Wars movies stupid Hollywood! lol. I knew when the prequels were coming out I already knew that they were going to have to recast Obi-Wan, so I was prepared for that, but pretty much every other character from this point forward that they recast is going to make me really pissed!

I've only seen a few episodes of Rebels. Mostly the ones with Vader, Maul, or Ahsoka but it's enough to get the references. I'll be getting Seasons 1 and 2 on Blu, and you guys can borrow to catch up.

There's a scene in Landing on Point Rain on TCW where Anakin and Ahsoka jump off a massive high wall, and they use a Force push towards the ground just before hitting it. I totally believe Mace could survive the fall. Dude is a badass!

The episodes I've caught this season have been pretty good. Aside from Ezra.

Good! Along with Mace, I hope they bring back Ventress too. Can't believe they killed her. In a comic no less! She was deserving of a screen death IMO.

I wouldn't mind an alternative cut along with what we saw on screen.

I'm not sure if he's all polystone, he has some heft to him so I'd guess he is? They definitely look good together, there's no reason to regret not ordering them since they're both still available. ;)

Dang, how many people are you shopping for? I bought my nephews gifts then just got all of my brothers gift cards...call it lazy but at our age I really don't care if I get presents, I'd prefer the gift cards, ha ha.

My TV is about due to be replaced. I've been thinking about it for the last year now. Eventually I'm going to do it!

Okay so I'm not the only one who disapproves of all this recasting, good! You know it's just going to keep happening since Disney apparently isn't going to stop making movies from this one era. It's kind of like we keep getting World War II movies. When was the last time they released a WWI or Civil War movie? Or a Korean War movie? Probably never on that last one.

Nice man! Congrats! I love the smoke effect. What do you think of it?

Nice! I need a new statue!

No kidding, it seems like you haven't gotten a new statue in a while! Someone whose seen the XM Star Wars statues was saying that the Luke likeness is spot on so I'm excited to see those! And I think the Green Goblin looks great. Lately my Sideshow statues have been pretty flawless, quite a few of my DC statues have blemishes, kind of makes them look like garbage now.

The only difference is I assume Mace was pretty stunned getting his hand chopped off followed by a blast of force lightning. But I'm sure he could have found a way to live still...if only.

Is Rebels not on Netflix?
