Steelbook Protection Product

Hi guys,

Just an advance notice that I am developing a new product designed specifically with protection of steelbooks in mind.

It will be a convenient and smart card sleeve which will form a jacket around the steelbook and leave the spine on view for identification.

I am expecting these to be available within the next month or so and they will be for sale in various bulk quantities (obviously I'm not looking to make a massive profit on these). I will post videos/pictures etc nearer the time. Will be great to see these keeping our collections safe and scratch-free :D

To the mods, if this is seen as advertising and unacceptable please let me know and I shall delete it, though I feel these will be of use to the members here! :)

Once I get these I'd be more than happy to send them worldwide.

I don't know, more a concern I have when looking at the design.

I read your thread and appreciate there is a little clearance at both the top & bottom of the clear sleve, but would they slip down over time, due to gravity or is it a really tight fit? Either way, I'm sure they are fit for purposse.

I personally think the ideal solution, would be a seamless, clear plastic sleeve that the SB slides horizontally into. 3 sides would be closed and one open.

did you get these made from your own design John or was an existing product?

Maybe Im missing something with the plastic ones but if they slide on top of the steel and leave the bottom opened why not just put it on upside down leaving to top opened instead???

I beleive the top & bottom are open with these?

These look nice and may be what Wreck received, I'd like to try them, rather than the plastic bags.

Where to find these? They look perfect to me.

You can easily make you own protection sleeves to the way you want. All you need is a PVC sheet and a bit of patients.

I have done over 100 sleeves for my own collection, they are similar to what John has a GB open for except i have the spine open (so the steelbook slides in horizontal)

I will get a pic of the sleeve and around a steelbook.

I bought some of John's protective sleeves!
They are great as they are a tight fit AND there is enough room on top and bottom not to get scratched or something...

Also on question to the here discussed card!
So you can not see through them and just see the Spine?

The idea with mine is simplicity. You'll have to get it out to look at it, yes, but it will be protected on the shelf. These will be cheaper than plastic ones would be, so will be a cost-effective solution. Thanks for all the comments :)

Here is a couple of pics.

Awesome mate, here's the next question.....you don't happen to have a pictorial guide to making them do you :)

I don't think it's off topic or innapropriate to discuss the other steelbook protection products and their merits in here.

However, Brvtality I'm sorry if you feel I've derailed your thread. Once you have a proto I'd be interested in seeing it.

that one already exists with one side open ... its nice, but I slightly prefer the open top and bottom more.

Here's what I do ....

I put a plastic bag on it first ... then I slide the plastic sleeve on top of that. So now all 4 sides front and back are protected and I can admire the steel artwork etc. I just do this on more valuable steels ... and then I just bag the others.

no guide mate but have a template i made i can PM you?

I can't take credit for this as there is a guy over on Blu Ray forum who i got the idea from and i think he might of done a step by step guide although he uses 2 sheets instead of 1 for each case.

Do you have a link to it?

I also agree with the idea of a protector that's open in the front. Perfect way to protect and show off the product, especially if it allows us to keep it with the plastic wrap on.

Still, I am interested in seeing an alternative as discussed on this post.

There is no flap on the front just the same as mine except the guy uses 2x sheets.

sure link removed Take a look at post number 324 & 349 (these seem to have only 1 side open)

Also if you want info on where to buy the PVC sheets ect let me know.
