Having seen the rather underwhelming release schedule for next year from a couple of companies I thought I'd post some suggestions for great movies that either haven't had steelbooks at all yet, or have only got second rate ones. Anyone else care to add?

The Usual Suspects
Airplane
12 Angry Men
Elite Squad 1&2
The Sting
The Guard
Dawn Of The Dead
Contact
Event Horizon
Thelma
The Wild Bunch

I've got a few in mind but would settle for one. It's a real insult the greatest film ever hasn't been given premium treatment.
Of course I'm talking about Ben-Hur (1959)

There may not be a premium release for it, but it has 4 different steelbook releases...

Dr No (1962)
Dirty Harry (1971)
Goodfellas (1990)
Zodiac (2007)
Midnight Run (1988)
Mean Streets (1973)
Little Shop of Horrors (1986)
Strangers on a Train (1951)

That’ll do for now.

Always annoyed me that LOTR The Two Towers and Return of the King were never released to go with the jumbo Hobbit trilogy and The Fellowship of the Ring
Also as mentioned by others The Abyss, True Lies and Knight and Day

Zavvi's 'The Shining' was okay wasn't it? 1990 Night Of The Living Dead is a good suggestion.

Nah, I've hated both steelbooks for The Shining (the a choice of either a door or an axe wasn't too appealing for me ). I generally don't like ones that are done in a big wave of similar minimalist designs, and The Shining has been victim of two such waves of mediocrity.

My biggest want for 2919 is

NO MORE F***KING POP ART!!!

There's nothing more disappointing than waiting years for a film to get steelbook treatment and they ruin it with bloody pop art.:jacked::angry:

As always, I'd like more of the old classics. This past year the premium retailers have gone back to about the past 20 years for some slightly older favorites, and that's great. But now let's go back further. I'd love to see a premium edition of a black and white film that has a black and white lenticular. :)
  • Citizen Kane
  • King Kong (1933!)
  • Silent films—esp. Buster Keaton (The General; Sherlock, Jr.) and Charlie Chaplin
  • More Hitchcock, especially the black and white films that don't get released as often as The Usual Five.
  • A really good steelbook for The Wizard of Oz
  • Laura
  • Sunset Boulevard
  • On the Waterfront
  • Breakfast at Tiffany's
  • Charade
  • Classic musicals (esp. West Side Story)
For stuff from the past couple of decades:
  • Inception (HD Zeta double lenticular)
  • The Straight Story
  • The Darjeeling Limited
  • The Village and Lady in the Water (to finish up the Zavvi steels for the "good or at least decent Shyamalan")
  • The rest of Star Wars Rebels, and all of Clone Wars
not steels. but i have to recommend the recent Eureka releases here and here. fabulous content, great thick proper booklet, and the films speka for themselves. good list of classics - would love some nice treatments for them.

The Straight Story - yes! sadly, think that will never happen. :(

My most wanted steel at the moment is probably The Truman Show.
roger that. in a premium set. :wow: with this as the full slip:

Lots of great suggestions here.

-I’d love to see the remaining Bond films done in the same style as the Best Buy releases from a couple years ago
-remaining Star Wars Rebels seasons
-Clone Wars seasons
-it will never happen, but I can dream: Hannibal (TV) Mondo
