Subwoofer questions-dual vs single

Considering adding a 2nd sub for my home theater, currently using 1-8" 100 watt, powered sub (Quest) in a 5.1 setup, front channels (Polk Monitor 50)are bi-amped. Question: would a 2nd sub of equal size/power be an improvement over buying a new replacement single sub, say for example a 12" powered
sub with better freq response. Sub is used mostly for movies/hd audio, most music i'm playing thru 2 channel. Thanks

One subwoofer superperformance are better than two normal.
two subwoofers superperformance are awesome resolution but it's very important that your room is right for this .

Got myself 5 subs in my HT. 2 SVS cilinders & 3 closed subs from Dali. I prefere multi subs installation over any single sub setup. Not only power is important when talking of subwoofers but also the quantity of surface is important to build up pressure

Definitely dual.
Dual (or more) will even out the frequency spectrum and nulls in the room.
Even though low frequencies are nondirectional, with one sub- you can locate those frequencies in the room. (You are aware of where your single sub sub is - and the sound emanating from it.)
Duals even out the soundstage.
