Are you ready for Pirates 4?

If so you've got a wait ahead of you since the movie doesn't hit theaters for another three years.

However we can help you out by telling you the name of the film so you can stop referring to it as the fourth one.

Here it is: Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides

Today, the big announcement was made at the Walt Disney Co.'s D23 Expo in Anaheim, just as Johnny Depp himself surprised an audience of 5,000 people by appearing on stage, in full costume and character, as Captain Jack Sparrow!

Johnny arrived in style in a gliding replica of his famous Black Pearl ship and cracked jokes with the audience about rum and the tasty dish that appeared before him - Kermit the Frog! Johhny Jack joked: "probably tastes like chicken."

Orlando Not Returning For Pirates Sequel!

Orlando Bloom will not be returning for the 4th installment of Pirates of the Caribbean set to be released next year.

"Will's swimming with the fishes," said Bloom. When asked if he would come back, he replied, "Not this time. No. No. No."

Thank god, he was really starting to get on my nerves, it started to focus on his love for elizabeth and just got on ym nerves for some reason.

That's fine IMO as long as Depp is back as Jack everything is good :)

+1

Neither is the chick.

See what i said about blooms charachter

Orlando Bloom gets on my nerves... actually, is he still acting? I don't think I've seen him since Kingdom of Heaven or something like that.

McShane to Play Blackbeard in Pirates of the Caribbean!

http://www.comingsoon.net/news/movienews.php?id=63528

Ian McShane ("Deadwood") is in negotiations to play the villain Blackbeard in Walt Disney Pictures' Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides, to be directed by Rob Marshall.

The Hollywood Reporter says McShane will play the legendary pirate--whose real name was Edward Teach--who piloted the ship Queen Anne's Revenge.

McShane will join Johnny Depp, reprising his role of Captain Jack Sparrow, and Penelope Cruz, Sparrow's foil and equal in many ways, in a story that revolves around the Fountain of Youth.

Terry Rossio and Ted Elliot wrote the script for the Jerry Bruckheimer-produced film.

Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides is scheduled for a May 20, 2011 release

Update!

Disney has issued a press release announcing that British actor Sam Claflin has officially joined the cast of producer Jerry Bruckheimer and director Rob Marshall ’s Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides. According to the release, Cladlin will “star in the key role of Philip, a youthful missionary.” Claflin is currently working on British television series The Pillars of the Earth in Budapest. Find out more information after the jump.

Claflin joins the already announced cast of Johnny Depp, who is reprising his role of Captain Jack Sparrow, Ian McShane who will play Edward Teach, better known as the legendary pirate Blackbeard, a notorious black-bearded pirate who operated around the West Indies and the eastern coast of the American colonies during the early 1700s, and famously piloted the ship Queen Anne’s Revenge, Penelope Cruz, who will be playing Blackbeard’s daughter, “Sparrow’s foil and equal in many ways”, and French Actress Astrid Bergès-Frisbey who will play a beautiful and alluring young mermaid named Syrena.

Claflin was mentioned in a report last week which also included fellow British actors Stephen Graham and Max Irons were also in talks to join the production. Graham has appeared in Public Enemies, This Is England, Gangs of New York, Band of Brothers and Snatch. Irons, the 24-year-old son of actors Jeremy Irons and Sinéad Cusack, has appeared in Dorian Gray and Being Julia. Graham will play the character of Scram, a character whom we have no more details about.

The fourth film will be based on Tim Powers’ pirate novel On Stranger Tides which was optioned by Disney years ago. The novel tells the story of Blackbeard and the Fountain of Youth. Here’s the plot of the novel:

Puppeteer John Chandagnac, bound for Jamaica to recover stolen money from his uncle, becomes Jack Shandy after pirates attack his ship and force him to join their crew. Shandy’s struggle to accept his new life grounds the story for readers, even as Blackbeard and vodun magicians whisk everyone away to dreamlike lands where the Fountain of Youth itself awaits. The chaotic sea battles sing, though at times key events happen so quickly that they get lost in the shuffle as Jack tries to comprehend where he’s going and what’s at stake.

Terry Rossio and Ted Elliot wrote the screenplay. Beginning in June, “Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides” will film entirely on location in Hawaii, Great Britain and Los Angeles. The film is scheduled to hit theaters on May 20th, 2011.

Yeah Jack does pwn. The new one does sound good but I think it could do without having a mermaid.

The fourth Pirates of the Caribbean film, On Stranger Tides, began production last week in Hawaii. Disney has sent out a press release to commemorate the occasion, and while normally this sort of thing is just a lot of hot air, in this case there is some useful information contained therein, at least if you’re curious to know exactly what adventure Johnny Depp will be sashaying through this time.

This is the only really useful stuff in the press release:

In this action-packed tale of truth, betrayal, youth and demise, Captain Jack Sparrow crosses paths with a woman from his past (Penelope Cruz), and he’s not sure if it’s love–or if she’s a ruthless con artist who’s using him to find the fabled Fountain of Youth. When she forces him aboard the Queen Anne’s Revenge, the ship of the formidable pirate Blackbeard (Ian McShane), Jack finds himself on an unexpected adventure in which he doesn’t know who to fear more: Blackbeard or the woman from his past.

The only other notable fact in the release is that director Rob Marshall has brought along his production designer John Myhre, who worked on Marshall’s Nine, Chicago, in addition to Wanted, Dreamgirls, Ali, X-Men and Elizabeth. (Brian Morris designed the first Pirates, and Rick Heinrichs the second and third.) And, I suppose, you might find the lack of any mention of Keith Richards notable, as he’s been rumored to be in the film.

Pirates 4 Script Found In London Cafe!

The top secret script for Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides was found in a London cafe after film bosses left it while stopping for lunch.

A fan found the script and turned it in to The Sun newspaper which returned it to Walt Disney Pictures. The fan says, "I resisted the urge to have a read. I want to enjoy the movie when it comes out."

lol what a pawn! Although I would kinda feel the same way about the reading part. However didnt it alway go "The book was better" heh.
