UPDATE ON MY Sony 4k TV

Well guys I saw another demo today of 4K material and it was stunning...BUT even though Sony were going to supply me with the separate hard drive containing the 10 films in 4K at an extra cost I have decided to cancel my order with them..

Reason being that I am not a fan of LCD TV'S with edge LED backlighting!!! Too many inconsistencies in picture performance and having to sit dead centre for the sweet spot..Plus never getting True Inky Blacks. ;)

Also being a plasma man, LCD just does not cut it for me at all. Even if it is for the Bedroom as a second screen..

So I have decided to get another Panasonic ZT65 60" Screen Plasma which simply blows all the other screens out of the water this year. Even the legendary Kuro..EEK!

And once its run in a few hundred hours then it will be Pro Calibrated to really squeeze every ounce of detail and performance this Reference screen is capable of providing..

The price is almost similar but the picture is mind-blowing I have to say..:D

So 4K can wait for now or until I get a OLED 65"/85", which is next on my want list...:scat: But only if they live up to all the hype that currently surrounds the first generation models from Samsung & LG.

I guess my only question(s) pertaining to 4K are the HDMI ports. Right now it's up to HDMI 1.4. From what I've read, we would need HDMI 2.0 (which companies are working on) in order to see things (more than 30 fps).

Considering that films were taped in 24 fps and now the Hobbit was at 48 fps in 3D, we cannot watch the 48 fps because current TV's, 4k or otherwise, is not capable of going beyong 30 fps. Is it a firmware issue or the ports issue? I'd like to know.

So to say you buying an 4k ready TV and even the OPPO 4k ready blu-ray player would make you future-proofed would be incorrect right? I may have read that wrong, but just saying that I am personally waiting, until I know for sure. Dropping 4k, then finding out it will not work at 4k would really suck.

120hz VS 240hz

So I was close to buying a 65" from BB but then I was thrown off by the motion blur.. When its displaying a slow image or a stand still scene, it looks GREAT!! but during an action scene you get to much motion blur and judder. I asked Magnolia BB sales guy if the picture is still set to factory settings and he said no. They had a specialist come down and set it up! Really? my LG55LM9600 looks 100X better than this!! I asked if it comes with 240hz or higher and he said it doesn't matter, but obviously it does.. Have you guys seen this issue at your local display area?? or if you own one are you having the same problem?

Nah Kuro is and will always BE my No.1 Plasma Reference TV (I'm a Plasma guy too bud what'd ya know we both think alike), it's dear to my heart and can never see myself replacing it :D

Sorry bud, but the Kuro is no longer king. The ZT65 beats it on black depth, clean picture, levels of colour gradients, etc...
Panasonic have finally topped it this year. Check out all the reviews bud it clearly is a reference panel.

I still have the last 9th gen 60" 101FD Signature Elite panel and putting it side by side with the ZT65 both pro calibrated. And this year the ZT65 beats it on all fronts! It definitely has its nose in front. Plus the Kuro as great as it was is a 4-5 year old tech and its finally time to move on & the addition of 3D which I am a fan of as long as its filmed in 3D and not a shoddy conversion job...:naughty:

Stop hugging that old Kuro mate and check out the ZT65, you'll be surprised buddy....:hilarious:
I was like you a fanboy and banner holder of the mighty Kuro up until
NOW.....
Plus that thick bezel on the old Kuro makes it look ancient now...:hilarious:

Get out your £4,000 bud and treat yourself to a new plasma the time has arrived....:D
Better than a whole truck load of TW steels any day. :naughty:

Sorry for derailing the thread mods! Back to 4K

Saw the Panasonic 56" 4K OLED panel this year and all I can say is ....:drool:
Next upgrade for sure!!! I want one it was awesome...EEK!:D

$40,000!? Oh yeah I'll take three for each of my rooms, let me also get an order of fries and a chocolate shake with that too. EEK! That's ridiculous, I mean you can buy a mid sized car for that price or put a down payment on a nice home. For the super rich maybe they would drop 40k on a TV. :wtf:
