There is already a beautiful steelbook for Sleeping Beauty. I'd rather we continue to get Steels for Disney movies we have not already been made.

It's gorgeous, just not worth the asking price. I could certainly go for a new release. :scat: Maybe the same art and finish with the embossing on the steelbook this time? could look great

Respectfully disagree. It's gorgeous and well worth the asking price.

Ok, ok I worded it wrong. It's one of the nicest steelbooks around, if you're interested and have the funds, I'm sure its worth it in comparison to other steelbooks but I'd never spend the asking price on one steelbook

It does have a serious price attached to it, and I do understand that isn't for everyone. I was lucky to be able to have the funds at the right time, and if you find yourself in that position, highly recommend trying to pick one up.

The only issue with this collection is that since they seem to be going for the more colorful, vibrant, character-heavy artwork, a lot of those older steelbooks from Futureshop and Best Buy seem out of place now with their more "mature" art. Like Sleeping Beauty or Snow White - gorgeous steelbooks, both of them, but they don't fit in with these.

I see what you mean but I see them as completely different sets. Same with the Asian steelbooks.

I'm certain Zavvi will go with it. It's a vaulted title coming out of the vault for some fresh air, so there'll only be a limited time to steel it before Disney says we can't have it for another several years. And hey, who says we can't have 2 beautiful Steels?

I just hope this new release retains all the extras and they don't tamper with the restoration. It looks stunning in the previous release, you don't need to go all Sword in the Stone over it Disney.... ;P

I'm not against a new Sleeping Beauty Steelbook but before that ever happens I would just rather first get a Steelbook for Sword In The Stone, Robin Hood, Aristocats, 101 Dalmatians....

Really?? For me, the "set" is anything in the 52 Classics. And then another set for all Pixar releases. Yeah they used different distributors, but still I think the only thing that separates the Zavvi releases from others is they've given theirs a "Disney Collection" label... Which is really arbitrary anyways, since they aren't numbering them or anything. Anyways, I see where you're coming from though.

I certainly wouldn't mind for them to do new steels for films that have already gotten one, but I agree that I'd MUCH rather them worry about those that haven't first. And it appears they're doing that, so good on them for now.

Wasn't Disney's fault. The guys that made the Vivas were sued by the Steelbook guys for copyright infringement and lost.
Right, in this circumstance. But Disney's middle name is inconsistency with everything. The closest they've ever come to a consistent "collection" was the Walt Disney Treasures, and even there they had several inconsistencies in packaging and content.

Plus, even though the Viva's were really nice, there was really no reason to switch from Steelbook in the first place - they just seem to change things on a whim.

I forgot there was a thread about all the Disney steelbooks. And here was me opening up my heart in one of the other threads. Copy and paste time:

Lady and the Tramp, The Sword in the Stone and The Lion King are my 3 favourite Disney movies.

All 3 have different meanings for me while growing up.

Lady and the Tramp was my first Disney VHS that my wee granny bought me, god bless her, back in 1991. I also watched it at Christmas beside the fire each year with my Tomato Soup while watching the snow fall at the window.

The Sword in the Stone was the movie I watched whenever I was off sick from primary school.

The Lion King was huge when I was in primary 7. As I was already an artist at 10 years old, my teacher (who was also an artist) asked me to draw the 3 Hyena's on a huge freeze picture to go up in the assembly hall. I did. And it was amazing. The whole school was also taken to the cinema to see it the same year.

So for those reasons as well as the movies being amazing, are my 3 greatest Disney movies of all time. I am glad 1 of them have a steelbook release so far.

P.S. - Planes looks really stupid now with the rest of the releases being classics. Planes deserves to be in a Rocketeer, Dick Tracy, Roger Rabbit etc etc thread.

I think the phase "Pissing into the wind' comes to mind. Doubt very much if they even listen to anyone. That seems to be the average for major companies these days.
