Ah fair enough. Not ordering them as I already have them on blu ray, just wondered how long it had been
Fair enough man specifically Peter pan sold out on the 14th Nov so 2 days ago and Dumbo sold out on the 13th Nov and considering it was on sale a day before, they both took the same amount of time. Dumbo was live 8th, Peter Pan was live 9th. 5 days each is not bad :scat:

I don't see what the big deal is to be honest. I actually like it.
For me it's all about consistency. The fact that all of them are horizontal except one is absolutely mind boggling to me. If they were ALL like that, on the other hand, I would probably like it very much.

Same thing with their standard amaray covers. After releasing two titles in the "Diamond Edition" line, they decided they wanted to give all Diamonds the vertical title. If looking at JUST the vertical Diamond titles, they look GREAT as a collection. But the second you add in all the other non-Diamond titles, as well as the first two Diamonds, you get a random collection with some one way and some the other.

I don't care which way they do it, just pick one and stick with it for god's sake.

its not anal at all. its merely recognizing a massive design error.

even if this wasnt part of a series and was a stand alone release, it would still be wrong.

its funny how after little mermaid they reverted back to using original artwork from the amaray releases. they probably sacked the designer and decided to play it safe for the remainder of the 'collection' lol

They are different movies only connected by the company that made them and that they are being released under a same "edition" banner. I personally would rather the the creativity of the artwork not be restricted and confined for the sake of consistency where it is not really that necessary or directly appropriate.

The kind of thing that gets under my skin is changing the way an ongoing TV series is packaged mid-run from season to season like the crap Fox tried to pull with the Simpsons when they attempted to force those cheap plastic character shaped head packages down our throats. Disney not holding to a consistent style for unrelated titles...not so much a problem for me.

i think the ghibli steelbook collection will look great in the end. i think that is a true collection which was obviously planned and had a vision.

i think this disney collection is impromptu. poorly managed and executed. its only now they are starting to have a theme- poor, duplicated art on the back lol

I love the 2 Disney steels I currently got from Zavvi : Aladdin & Jungle Book. I didn't like little mermaid in (from pics) so I went for the digibook. For WIR I've got blufans & planes I'm going for the standard amaray release but target 3D with bonus disc.

I wasn't planning on getting any of the new February releases but have preordered lady & tramp & dumbo. I didn't need Peter Pan as I'm very happy with my us digibook. I don't see why Disney don't do the same wave with Target in US but in digibooks as their Little mermaid & Peter Pan are stunning (I missed the others), although that's for another thread ;)

My only critique with this wave is same as other Zavvi steelbooks, they realise they sell well so now they are going to release to many at once. We have 3 Disney and currently 3 Pixar (toy story) all for release in February and potentially Monsters Inc 3D to. 7 steelbooks in 1 months is just to much especially if they want everyone to order. In my opinion they should at least do 1 Disney & 1 Pixar a month and spend the wave out. They would sell more then as people would more likely be able to afford to get the whole set.

Although, on the other hand, it has forced me to be more particular with my steelbook so only buy what I defiantly want eg leave toy story steels as I got normal 3D amarays.

I would argue that these films are not all "unrelated". They weren't only made by the same company - they were made by the same people, passing the torch through the generations. Yes, the stories being told are not directly related to one another, but the movies themselves most certainly are. That's why they belong together as a collection.
