I considered myself quite the collector back in the day with my 40ish glorious steelbooks, but I obviously learnt the ways once I started reading the site.

*BUT* I am obviously not strong with the force, as sometimes, I have no idea what people are talking about?!

I understand the releases, i.e. Amazon.in Amazon.fr (quick question – what region code is France by the way?!) I understand region coding etc.

But I don’t understand much else about different versions.

There seems to be a massive difference between a Steelbook and a FuturePak? Are these the two brands/manufacturers who make cases?

Also, I hear things like Lenti, Kimchi, etc. Are these different artwork designers or websites?

I just about got my head around “Group Buys” which is where an exclusive item (for example in USA) is available, and we (the Brits) put all our money in a pot, give that pot to someone in the US, who buys it and ships it over. Right?

But there seems to be so many little sayings that people use to describe Steelbooks, or more accurately “Collectible BluRays”.

Could people start listing some they know – and if you see one that hasn’t been listed – add that to this thread too.

Obviously, someone could be very flash and point out a thread/sticky that already exists for this sort of thing.

Also – any further info would be nice too. I.e. from what I've gathered, people don’t like FuturePak as much as Steelbooks? Or something like that? (I'm guessing, as I don’t want to p!ss off/alienate a portion of the site!)

HANG around a bit and you will lern LOADS HI by the way @Metasyntactic  .

I NEVER know or understand a lot of it. When you hit 30 posts a whole new world opens up here. Trade sales group buys. Some Group Buys are H.M.V shiped to U.K members as well as international ones that dont have a H.M.V near by. As well as International members hosting to ship to us Brits.

Kimchi and Blufans can have exclusive art mostly it is Killer finishes . France is the same as us for reigon codeing B . Some are region free others are locked unless you have a reigon free Blu Ray or your player is modified.

Scary Has given you a lot of good info! There are several different types of packaging. Steelbook is the most popular but there are also Futurepaks and Metalpacks. The main differences are the spine, most people tend to think that Steelbooks are made better that the others but everyone differs.
