The Last Steelbook you gave as a GIFT to Family or Friends???

Steelbooks make amazing gifts. I have been giving Steelbooks as gifts to many family and friends, who are NOT Steelbook Collector's. Everyone seems to like them.

Some of their reactions were:

*Grandma declined her sealed/mint copy of Lady & The Tramp Zavvi; DUE to not having a Blu ray player. I later found it with a remote control on top of it.

.....I guess I hadn't thought that one out too well. I later re-gifted it to a friend.

*Mom opened her copy of Lady & The Tramp zavvi right away. Seemed to like it. When I later enquired about it, she confirmed it is Now Lost. Been missing ever since.

*Mom loved Mary Poppins and has it laying around. I saw a binder on top of it.

*Girlfriends Dad liked his sealed/mint copy of ALIENS. He claimed he wasn't going to open it. I subsequently decided to cancel my extra pre orders of Alien, and Alien 3 as I had intended to get him the set.
.......I later explained to him that the Steelbook market is saturated & it will never be worth anything so so he might as well open it and watch the extended cut. He eventually opened it.

*Friend with two daughters - spine slashed Cinderella Zavvi -Oddly enough, he Never really thanked me. Later he told me he already had it and is going to keep that copy sealed.....

The reactions to Steelbooks as gifts are all over the place. Are steelbooks a Great gift?

What was the last Steelbook you gave as a gift? Did they like it? Did they open it?

I gave Walmart's Man of Steel, Zavvi's Argo, Bambi, Cinderella and Frozen to nieces and nephews for Easter

Their reactions were better than Christmas morning

I just sent out a care package containing all new sealed: The Wrestler 1/4 slip PA + Spine slashed Bami Zavvi + the lady & the tramp Zavvi to my good friend, his girl, and baby boy. I hope they like them.

I gave my friend a Zavvi Wreck-It-Ralph because she had seen my copy and wanted one, then my other friend got jealous and I ended up sourcing another one for him. He's my buddy that works at Best Buy and can check their system for steelbook info for me. Definitely want to keep him happy.

Gave one friend the Zavvi Pan's Labyrinth because it's a fav of his and he loved the artwork.

Gave Django to my gf's dad (who's a movie guy) and he hadn't gotten around to seeing it yet so it was a nice surprise and new to him.

I've given two of my damaged steels (spine slash and another slash) to another friend who just appreciates a free movie.

Gave my buddy/co-worker my scratched copy of Abraham Lincoln Vampire Hunter after Zavvi sent me a replacement copy that fortunately is mint.

I hate damaged copies, but they make great gifts to Non-Collectors.

If I order a spare copy to keep one sealed, and its not OCD mint, I don't keep it for my sealed collection. I don't try to sell it. I gift it away....

NO NEVER . Ungrateful gits that are my sisters lot NO lent em an Amray Sweeny Todd coverd in disk dust scrached the flogging disk.

I about died. I have nightmares where thay get a nail file to polish the case up to make it shiny . My Evilbayed Pacific Rim Japan had to go down stires half 2 in the morning to make sure it was still safe.

I sent the disk only and don't let the Japan disks go only those I can replace easily .

My kids and Hubby get it and treat them with the love and respect they need OR I don't feed 'em .

I've given my girlfriend a few steels: Fifth Element, Little Mermaid, The Matrix, End of Watch and some others (can't think off the top of my head! lol) she has loved all of them but knows that my secret reasoning behind it is so she can't moan at me for my addiction cos if she did I'd be like "you like them too! AND you have your own collection!"

I've also got my brother Amazing Spiderman and 101 Dalmatians (his 2 favourite films) for his birthday but that's not til October! haha But I know he will appreciate them! I've also got him the Spiderman Marvel 3D lights

^That's a great idea! Keep the old lady off my back. I will have to surprise my girl with some steels of movies she likes. We have such different taste though, all her movies are movies that I'd never watch. I always sho her all of my steels when I get them and we watch all the movies together. Ill have to get her top picks and keep a lookout.

I want to get her a copy of frozen , I'm sure She would love it!

Well I gave my brother my copy of Doctor Who: Season 5 steelbook, and whenever I buy steels for myself, I always buy a couple for my OH otherwise he gets annoyed i'm spending all this money - so he's gotten The Hobbit: Extended Jumbo, The Hobbit: DoS, Stargate, Ender's Game, The Hunger Games & Catching Fire.. so he's done alright so far

One of my nephews is a huge Batman fan. I am thinking of getting him the UK steels. But he is a young dad with a 2 year ok, so maybe not the best gift lol. I know this is not the 'consideration' thread...just sharing Last one I bought for my wife was 'Big Trouble in Little China'

Zavvi sent me a scratched ALIEN. Not too bad but it bothered the hell out of me.

I now have the whole set and they are all cherry.

Anyway, I requested a replacement and I got one. Fortunately Zavvi let's me keep the damages copies.

I gave my girlfriends Dad the scratched Alien steel in a poly sleeve. I already gave him Aliens when it first came out. So now he has both.

I was hunting for a set for myself, and I easily convinced my girl to get her dad the set, because he loves the Aliens films. I told her, for $8 each, she would be Duaghter of the year. They were the perfect gift for Fathers Day.
