Had no idea what this movie is about going in, and that's for the better. It's too gimmicky for its own good, having 'chapters' shown in reverse, but still interesting enough. The first/last part plays out like an apocalypse, spoiled only by excessive 'strangeness' that pulls you out, making you suspect it's not actually real. The rest is just a touching family drama of unfulfilled potential of sorts, leaving the viewer with unanswered questions and wasted potential of 'the foreshadowing room'...

Every year I try to pick a film and go in blind. Even though I added the trailers above, I never watched them.
All I knew was that is was Flanagan directing and Hiddleston starring. Thats it. And I'm very glad I did.

I'm not sure if its just what I'm going through personally right now but this film hit me hard. It was beautiful, emotional and a breath of fresh air from all the remakes and sequels coming out lately.
The cast is amazing, featuring a lot of Flanagan's regular crew (if you've watched any of his series).

Its a film that I think is going to stick with me for a while and is one of my favorites for the year so far.
