Saw the film today. Some good moments but overall pretty terrible, even for a cgi shark film. Poor plotting, poor acting, and I'm still not sure which continent Statham's character was supposed to be from (The wife said "Sidcup").

Will pass on this!

New (TBC) art arguably one of the better face-on Meg shots and will at least go OK with the face-on tie-in graphic novel cover:-

Regarding poster image of Jay: to paraphrase the iconic line from JAWS "I'm gonna need a bigger speargun".

Despite no after-credits scene one can hope for more of the same sea thrills if this continues to perform well at the box office and elsewhere ... maybe following the route of the 1997 Steven Alten book "The Meg" with the first sequel entitled "The Trench: Meg 2" - maybe changed to "Meg 2: The Trench" - where we meet another long extinct carnivorous sea creature.
We all know that The Stath is happy to do sequels too . . .

This just the latest in the longlasting obsession with BIG creatures in movies (some even given steelbooks) . . . an obsession going back to the original KING KONG in 1933 and even earlier . . . picking up again in the '50s, '60s and '70s with those wonderful Harryhausen creature-features at the same time as those guys in Japan donning rubber suits and having tremendous knockabout fun in the rash of GODZILLA movies. . . to the '90s with the excellent TREMORS and JURASSIC PARK through CLOVERFIELD, THE MIST and so on right up to today with THE MEG:-

I tend to disagree with you on that, 2D & 4K is the way to view this movie, there is no substitute.

Watched this in both 2D and 3D at the cinema, the 3D destroys the other versions, it's clear this film was made to work in 3D. I own both 4k and 3D high end TV's, won't be bothering with a 4K disc as i'll only watch this again in 3D

You are just hanging to a technology that has died already, 3D television is dead and that's the facts bro. There's articles on it all over the internet that 3D has died, In 2016 most TV manufacturers stopped making 3D TV's. Article David you need to just give it up on the 3D bull because it's getting real tiresome hearing your hyped up crap about it.
