The New Fox wave of Steelbook Titles I've Seen Today

What a complete waste of steel this batch are. Could have made some decent cutlery with that lot. I don't think I have ever seen a batch of Steelbooks that have actually made me feel nauseous before.

I've slightly amended the thread title for you for better clarification

We done face palming and rib sticking lol

Lets discuss this new wave and Fox's new direction

Oh god, this better not be a "new direction." Like I said in one of the individual threads: I feel like Fox must be running a test and seeing how cheap they can go on the art and still get people to buy them just because they are steelbooks.

I would have bought Speed and Rocky Horror, maybe a couple others, but NO WAY if that is the final art.

Makes me think of how does artwork get the "go". Is there a panel or what? Who in their right mind said that these were fine and thought they would sell?

Ah, come on!

My guess is it's a panel of accountants, the maths seems quite simple, a Steelbook is an added value product therefore more profit per unit

To theoretically maximize profit it would have to as cheap as possible so matt finish and as few colours as possible as I assume this make it cheaper to manufacture.

only interested in speed out of the latest batch of fox steels, but in fairness all of them are pretty much terrible designs on the covers. if they can't think of anything decent to put on the front i personally can't see whats wrong with putting the film poster as the cover and you can't go far wrong, but that's just my opinion

I'm either in the minority or there's just nobody that's spoken up yet that like these in this thread. They haven't just used the exact same artwork as the amaray, they've actually made som new artwork for them that's kinda artistic.
They can't please everyone of course and there's always gonna be complainers.

That being said, I won't buy any of them and they will probably be cheap matte finish and be sold for bargain bin prices on ebay pretty soon.

The rock, con air, armageddon, die hard 3. Thats the worst

Aside from the lack of interior artwork, they weren't that bad.

•The Rock. One of my Fave films. The Front artwork could have had better if they used the poster art! The Interior art could have been of the Mexican standoff or Gen.Hummel bleeding internally, or Connery getting a hair cut. A number of epic scenes could have been used. Cage pulling out those elgant string of pearls. This film deserves a Kimchi or Blufans release.

I really liked the Con Air exterior Plane like design. Int art of the bar fight would have been nice.

ON TOPIC: I ordered Big, Butch, and vanishing point. I really want speed but the artwork is hideous! Not thrilled about Thin Red Line either. Pass!

Well when none buys those steels maybe the message will filter through that the final designs were not just a bad idea but a catastrophic idea........ Consulting with fans should be automatic when designing these steels instead of letting someone loose on them who obviously is not a film buff or has a clue (judging from those designs)

Problem with that is that people WILL buy them.

It is the one I am most okay with to be honest. It is a movie that has never had good artwork before and this is the best it has ever been IMHO.
