Be prepared to get hit with customs with WOWHD. I got caught with the [Rec] box set.

You might get lucky......
I never had customs issues with WowHD

Most my orders was in €18 to €28 price range
I never ordered anything expensive with WowHD
Thanks for the heads up about customs

I very likely will be keeping my amazon order

What was the packaging like REC box set with WowHD

Be difficult to use WowHD usual compact cardboard mailers with a Box Set

It came in a nice little sturdy cardboard box. Not much bigger than the set itself (which will be a similar size to this Omen box set i would imagine). But no bubble wrap or anything inside. Just the box.

That only cost €40 at the time. But its the €8 handling fee that's the sickener.

Stuck on order in with Amazon, $82 shipped with import fees added on top but still get stung with the £8 Royal Mail handling fee.
So in total £66 + £8 handling fee, £74 in total to the UK.

Import fee deposit is to cover Vat on your order
There should be no handling fee applied by Royal Mail or any other courier as Vat has already been paid

If you paid import fee deposit on previous Amazon USA orders and royal mail and any other courier have charged you a handling £8.00 fee the courier are to refund you that payment.

Purpose of import fee deposit is to avoid customs in country that parcel is been shipped to having to look Vat payment from the customer directly on arrival as it's already been paid when paying for goods with the retailer
Import Fee Deposit is to cover customs clearance no more additional fees apply

Note Import Fees Deposit
You won't be charged additional fees if the actual Import Fees exceed the Import Fees Deposit we estimated
Amazon cover any under estimated fee difference

If vat collected is less than import fee deposit paid amazon will refund you the difference and often you might get full refund of import fee deposit if vat was not collected at all by customs handing provider in delivery country

Refunds of import fee deposit often takes 3-6 months and sometimes even longer than that I been refunded partial or full refund

Interesting to note no handling fee. I’ve ordered stuff before on Amazon USA but that was before Amazon applied the import fees. So got stung on the usual VAT and handling fee. £66 definitely worth snagging.

Yes that's the whole point of Import Fee Deposit it's collection of Vat and avoids the Handling Fee

Amazon USA will be updating Import Fee Deposit method from Jan 1st 2021
Orders been shipped to EU countries will be Vat at checkout based on customers Vat rate in that country

All retailers based outside EU and delivering to EU country will be doing this Vat will be applied at checkout will apply from Jan 1st 2021
No more Vat threshold to avoid Vat from Jan 1st 2021 also as in no more avoiding Vat on goods valued below £15.00/€22

UK if leaving EU will depend on what trade deals they do with countries outside the EU so above might not apply from 2021 for UK but I expect it will

Would you not be better off taking a gamble with WOWHD?

Even if it does get snagged by customs it would probably work out around the same as it's only $67 shipped from them as opposed to $82 all in from Amazon. You might get lucky.....

Usa to UK from amazon USA price with Vat is £66 (Includes Shipping and Import Fee Deposit) there is no handling Royal Mail £8.00 fee
Import fee deposit is the Vat payment

If Vat not collected when arrives in UK import fee deposit is refunded by Amazon so might get lucky and been even cheaper
If import fee deposit paid is more than what is collected the difference is also refunded by amazon

WowHD UK is £54.80 + £10.96 (20% VAT) in UK (£65.76)
Wow HD UK apply VAT at checkout automatically for UK customers with a UK address if value is over £15.00 with USA imports

WOW HD Ireland they don't apply Vat at checkout for Rep of Ireland Address so yes there is a risk of been caught by customs
