Explains why Zavvis 'Ultra limited to 2,000 copies' titles never sell out then!!

They probably use them for damaged and lost orders.

Beats me. Zavvi exclusives sometimes pop up on European Amazons with different J-Cards. (Unless they're Studio Canal releases) I guess Blufans & Co. either just sit on the extra cases or destroy them.

Edit: yeah, keeping them in case of replacements seems a reasonable suggestion.

I hadn't realised this price didn't include shipping. It's coming to £45 delivered for the leather slip.

I'm thinking I might just pick up the HMV version for less than half the price as it is past my ceiling. Had delivery been included then I would've possibly tried for it.

This is a cracker though, all Manta Lab versions of it.

Zavvi are just a retailer that get exclusives for the UK the same steelbooks a lot of them get released in other countries that's why you see these show up on other countries websites
Zavvi don't make steelbooks the releases are from Film Studios and some are trade wide releases offered as exclusives in some countries with different retailers and Jcard will be relevant to that country

I honestly don't think it will be necessary to treat it imo. my bed has a faux leather headboard and that doesnt fall to pieces unless I massage it with oil lol. Plus i don't know about you lot but I don't plan on taking it off the shelf each day and giving it a stroke.

Wack it in a steel shell, pop it on the shelf and I think we should be fine.

The smallest Steelbook print run you can order @ Scanavo is 4,000. Any company that does <4k releases will have cases to spare.

The 2000 copies print runs were commented on by @eonedirect in the Entertainment One (EOne) - SteelBook Poll - new products [UK] thread:

2k runs are from China and a) very expensive to produce b) you have to commit to 4 titles and c) it takes longer to produce and deliver.

That post has been since deleted (too much information?), but it has been fully quoted in this post.

I would consider it confirmed that distributors can order smaller print runs under specific conditions from Scanavo China considering how many Zavvi exclusive releases have been 2000 copies print runs.

It would seem that Scanavo is nowadays producing even print runs of only 1000 copies, as there have been a few Zavvi Exclusive releases advertised as such, e.g., Henry: Portrait of a Serial Killer, Young Frankenstein, Lockout, that haven't surfaced in any other country (which would be suggesting a shared print run).
