The 2000 copies print runs were commented on by @eonedirect in the Entertainment One (EOne) - SteelBook Poll - new products [UK] thread:

That post has been since deleted (too much information?), but it has been fully quoted in this post.

I would consider it confirmed that distributors can order smaller print runs under specific conditions from Scanavo China considering how many Zavvi exclusive releases have been 2000 copies print runs.

It would seem that Scanavo is nowadays producing even print runs of only 1000 copies, as there have been a few Zavvi Exclusive releases advertised as such, e.g., Henry: Portrait of a Serial Killer, Young Frankenstein, Lockout, that haven't surfaced in any other country (which would be suggesting a shared print run).

I am fairly certain they can order runs of less than 4k but the cost per steel is increased to cover what a 4k run would and probably more. There have been many releases in the china/Korean market less than 4k with WEA. Look at the blufans relases.

Zavvi are just a retailer that get exclusives for the UK the same steelbooks a lot of them get released in other countries that's why you see these show up on other countries websites
Zavvi don't make steelbooks the releases are from Film Studios and some are trade wide releases offered as exclusives in some countries with different retailers and Jcard will be relevant to that country

These didn't appear as a shared print run in any other country and were exclusive to Zavvi.

Those Zavvi Marvel lenti magnet steelbooks had a print run of 4,000 each

Scanavo will do limited print runs of a steelbook of 1,000/2,000 when a group of titles ordered from a film studio at the same time as in they add up to 3,000 or 4,000 print run

Example 2 different steelbooks requested same time with print run 2,000 each = 4,000

Good luck tomorrow for eveyone ordering direct, I'm sure there will be enough to go around especially with the increased leather slip quantity which is cool.

Luckily a very kind ninja has sorted me out their full slip plus I have a busy day at work tomorrow so it's helped me out massively (thank you again - you know who you are )

Can't wait to finally own this film and have this package in hand.

Oh and manta were going to post pics of the full slip before pre order but they are still working on making it look epic. I think pics will show up after pre order but before release. And there should be a second round of pre order if all sell out like what happened with MOS wIth reserved items and cancellations. What I was told anyway

And lest we forget amidst the leather slip hubub, that that Fullslip is amazing. I was 100% sold before there was even a leather slip mentioned, because of how gorgeous that fullslip cover is. (Still sad that they removed the text though).
