I just opened my full slip and yep region A locked. So big blockbuster movie on a premium steel is Region A locked. I would had thought that this would be region free. Now I will have to go and buy a cheap aamray to replace this...

I can't believe that region coding is still an issue after all this time, especially considering the amount of money some collectors spend on this hobby. It is a no-brainer investing in a multi-region player.

I did. 4 years ago spent £400 on one. Not even a year later it broke....so never going to invest in one again.

A good region free player will pay for itself. If I worried about region lock 60% of my European imports would be useless. I use a Oppo 103D with a region free dongle that I picked up for around 50 bucks from eBay.

Yes, if you watch them - as most of us do sooner or later, it is really disheartening.
If it cost just a few quid you can shrug it off to some extent; but at these prices . . .

As an aside, it is long gone time the region coding was dispensed of. I imagine if someone rich enough took the studios to court they could prove an infringement of our rights - but who has that sort of money . . . .

Easiest solution is to import a cheap Region A player for less than 100£..

Thanks but early next year I be upgrading to 4K UHD. There aren't enough releases for me to consider a Multi region these days.

I think what confused me is this distributed by 20th Century Fox which you expect to be region Free. A lot of premium Asian steels stated Region A when they are actually region free. But this is actually properly Region A locked....So next time we have to be more mindful, is it actually Region A locked or not?

Yes Oppo is also coming out with a UHD player (which is gonna beat the Panny for sure). No mention if it is multiregion for Blu-Ray's or not but I suspect a dongle will be out for it soon enough.

It was a modified Pioneer one at the time. It cost about £100 to modify this to multi region. I guess the player couldn't handle the movies I was watching

Well mine arrived custom free. It was declared for $20 but as a gift which they shouldnt had done lol. It went okay for me but I've heard Germany can suck for customs?

That's exactly what I am going to do. I sold my HMV one to open the Mantalab version, feel a bit silly now. So I'm not going to buy another bluray. I'm going to upgrade and then buy the 4K.

I don't believe this is a pure FOX release. It looka like Deltamac did an.exclusive encode as the disc contains both TrueHD and DTS HD-MA.

UK release is Region free.

Also all one needs is to invest the amount of money paid for Revenant One click to get a good Region Free Blu-ray player.
