Mutant, in partnership with Milan Records, is proud to release the official soundtrack album for Edgar Wright’s sci-fi action thriller The Running Man.
The album features the film’s original music composed by Academy Award®-winner Steven Price (Gravity, Last Night in Soho, Baby Driver).
We’re huge fans of both Edgar and Steven, and it’s great to see them creating another killer time at the movies. Steven Price’s score for The Running Man is a dazzling mix of propulsive beats, gurgling synths, and traditional orchestral elements that fizz with invention and style. The central theme has an elegant, timeless quality, with lush, calming strings weaving a hypnotic melody. Contrast this with the tracks that accompany the game show segments, which are really fun, bombastic, and retro, and which again contrast with the more sinister, dystopian pieces scattered throughout. Placed within the film, the music feels like another character pushing the story along. As a standalone listen, it is engaging, dynamic, and really fun, and it perfectly captures the many tones and moods of the film.
Featuring artwork by Luke Preece, the vinyl edition is pressed on 2x 140gm color vinyl, housed in a Mutant exclusive custom O-Card and contains a replica "The Truth" zine from the film featuring exclusive liner notes by Edgar Wright and composer Steven Price.
Also available on Compact Disc.
