Just seen this on Odeon Scream unseen. I'm not sure there are words right now....

I think I'd never watch it again... and I'd recommend it to everyone.

May need time to process lol

One thing is for sure. Demi Moore was sensational. I squirmed. I laughed. I got sucked in. I got spat back out. I think that's probably the intention and the message of the film too. That ultimately Hollywood culture is grotesque.

Watched The Substance with my wife a few nights back. Uhm… wow. It’s taken us both a while to process. Hard to describe without spoilers but it’s a hell of a movie. I’d definitely watch again. Amazingly, so would my wife.

Seriously though, if you are not a fan of gore or get queasy easily, you might think twice.

This was absolutely crazy, and in some parts as hard to watch, as Requiem for a Dream.
One of the simple-minded viewers in the back kept exclaiming expletives during various scenes - I thought at first he was drunk, but he just couldn't help it, being an idiot. Eventually, after being shushed a few times, he stood up against the wall, shouted some more, and left before the real over the top ending.
Speaking of which, that was really unnecessary, it was like driving the point you already clearly established, with a whole train to a nail head. I think it detracted from an otherwise excellent allegory about obsession with beauty and fame. Dennis Quaid is great here, and some camera angles reminded me of Gilliam's Brazil.
