Waxwork Records is thrilled to present the deluxe soundtrack re-issue to 1982’s sci-fi horror classic, JOHN CARPENTER’S THE THING. Composed by the legendary Ennio Morricone, the soundtrack to THE THING is a landmark musical composition that is cold, dark, minimal, and effective.

Considered to be John Carpenter’s directorial masterpiece, THE THING is praised as one of the greatest films of it’s genre by both fans and critics. Starring Kurt Russell and A. Wilford Brimley, THE THING follows a team of researchers in Antarctica as they are infiltrated by a parasitic extraterrestrial life form that assimilates other organisms and then imitates them. The classic soundtrack composed by Ennio Morricone effectively captures the cold, isolated tone of the story and film, and marks one of the few John Carpenter directed films that Carpenter did not score himself.

Waxwork Records worked for two years to ensure that such a highly anticipated and sought after vinyl soundtrack re-issue would meet and exceed expectations of the biggest fan of John Carpenter and his sci-fi / horror tour de force that is THE THING.

Features include the complete Ennio Morricone soundtrack re-mastered from the original master tapes, your choice of two different 180 gram colored vinyl variants, all new artwork by Justin Erickson of Phantom City Creative, deluxe heavyweight packaging including satin coated old-style gatefold jackets with UV spot-gloss varnish, an 11” x 22” poster, a custom hand assembled breakaway “ice” slipcase with 100% overall UV gloss coating, and an exclusive interview with director John Carpenter.

Not much noise in here for a while

Mine arrived on Saturday

It's ok but I feel a little tiny bit let down, they could of easily fit some other goodies in the left side of the snow editon

Package and vinyl does look cool but I feel like it's missing something

Anyway I'm done with ordering direct with from waxwork now, all my packages have arrived damaged in some way or another so if other sites like zavvi or some of the others get waxwork exclsusives then I'll try them in the future

yeah if they want me to order direct in future then it'll have to be an exclusive site only coloured variant that is same price

Got my deluxe in the mail today and boy is it a bute. With the slipcover its very think so dont expect to fit a record sleeve over it.

My only issue is the pops on the Vinyl, i wet cleaned i.e. spray solution (alcohol, distilled water, drop of soap) cleaned off with microfiber towel. Then let it dry and used a record brush before playing. I dont mind a pop here and there but the really loud ones and when its constant bothers me.

Anyone have any tips on how i should clean my Vinyl, for what its worth i have only had issues with my color vinyls thus far. Im thinking of doing a wood glue cleaning if i cant figure something else out.

But besides that this is a superb pick up!

Colour vinyl no mater how well pressed is inferior to 180 gram black vinyl. Simple as that. You want the best sound quality from vinyl black pressings are the best. You will always get pops and hisses with coloured vinyl. I know. I'm been a vinyl fan for 45 years and I have yet to get a coloured vinyl pressing that matches an ordinary black pressing.

congrats, everyone who's received theirs, or about to. since i somehow managed to miss this completely until too late - :grumpy: - and the very few copies out there on the secondary are laughably priced, i guess i'll just... wait here for a little while... and see what happens...

i do have a couple of lovely consolations coming soon, though...

People forgot that while coloured vinyl is nice, it does not have quality of a top notch 180gm black vinyl pressing.
You obviously don't know how vinyl pressing works. Go see on youtube how it is and you'll see that whether it's black, red or any other color it's the same. No color doesn't mean black, no color is transparent. They use the exact same technique to put black or any other color. So if you have a problem with colored vinyl, you have a problem with black vinyl.
