Waxwork Records is thrilled to present the deluxe soundtrack re-issue to 1982’s sci-fi horror classic, JOHN CARPENTER’S THE THING. Composed by the legendary Ennio Morricone, the soundtrack to THE THING is a landmark musical composition that is cold, dark, minimal, and effective.

Considered to be John Carpenter’s directorial masterpiece, THE THING is praised as one of the greatest films of it’s genre by both fans and critics. Starring Kurt Russell and A. Wilford Brimley, THE THING follows a team of researchers in Antarctica as they are infiltrated by a parasitic extraterrestrial life form that assimilates other organisms and then imitates them. The classic soundtrack composed by Ennio Morricone effectively captures the cold, isolated tone of the story and film, and marks one of the few John Carpenter directed films that Carpenter did not score himself.

Waxwork Records worked for two years to ensure that such a highly anticipated and sought after vinyl soundtrack re-issue would meet and exceed expectations of the biggest fan of John Carpenter and his sci-fi / horror tour de force that is THE THING.

Features include the complete Ennio Morricone soundtrack re-mastered from the original master tapes, your choice of two different 180 gram colored vinyl variants, all new artwork by Justin Erickson of Phantom City Creative, deluxe heavyweight packaging including satin coated old-style gatefold jackets with UV spot-gloss varnish, an 11” x 22” poster, a custom hand assembled breakaway “ice” slipcase with 100% overall UV gloss coating, and an exclusive interview with director John Carpenter.

where was it mentioned that there is more than one color vinyl?

They did two variants for all of their previous major releases and also for a lot of their "smaller" releases like Salems Lot, C.H.U.D. or Mad Monster Party. And sometimes even three variants with the subscriber exclusive variant. So I'm pretty sure with a title like The Thing they'll drop everything they can on this.

Waxwork Records is fully unveiling their pressing of The Thing soundtrack next week

:thumbs::thumbs:

I'll try to watch the movie this week-end as I have yet to watch it :cautious: I have the Mondo steelbook so excuse for not watching it ^^ Then I'll decide if I buy this or not, but I'll probably will if the movie is as good as a lot of people have told me it is.

I don't own any Waxwork records and have never preordered one at release time. Is there a typical limited quantity or does it just depend on the record? Like, if they do 2 colors, will the more limited one sell out instantly?

I can't predict how long they'll stay in stock since it seems a lot of people who are not into Vinyl will also buy this as a collectors item. But popular titles like Taxi Driver or Leon staid in stock for some days...
Most of the time both color variants are limited to the same amount. Exception to releases like the Friday the 13th liquid filled vinyl of course. At least they don't sell out in the first hour or so. You should be able to get one on the whole release day without rushing and F5ing the page when it goes live. But for how long they'll stay in stock after that day, I don't know.

Thanks for the info. I'm definitely into collecting records. I own over 1K. I just don't own many OST's and nothing from Waxwork in particular. They've got some great looking releases though and I'm excited to finally get one.

Yep it would be released on Monday the one bloody day I do a 15 hour shift. One I won't be getting.......

You would be surprised how long it takes some waxwork to sell out, Leon is still available - both variants.
Taxi driver tri colour took about 3 months to sell out - I kept putting it off and then when I went to order it f*cking sold out

I need this one.

All waxwork record are 35$ ? How Many for shipping coast ?

Leon is $35, taxi driver is also $35 but I thought originaly it was $5 more (I might be wrong on that) and for some reason I have a horrible feeling this will be $40. I hope not

Shipping to UK is $22 so it's going to cost over £50 for the UK.
Very bad price and the only thing that puts me off :(

This one will sell out simply because the Thing is a seriously popular film. People who are not even into vinyl will snap this one up. I will be amazed if it's still available at the end of the day it goes on sale. Scalpers will go into overdrive.

Your probably right but I'm just saying like @dan8885 mentioned you just never know

This is one of my fav films so I know how popular it is but the same goes for Leon and taxi driver.

But I'm hoping we get a time before live pre order time

It'll be purchased by USA buyers only. Anyone outside the USA won't get a look in. Scalpers know a good investment when they see one and this one will be gone pretty damn quick only to surface weeks later at seriously inflated prices on ebay.

Why by USA buyers only?

Quite a few here are from all over and a lot from the uk and we don't have issues with waxwork. Only thing that might put off people from Europe is the price

This is the price of premium for me so I'll have to have a swap around a few things this month

Simply because once it goes on line to buy the servers will be swamped and only local buyers will get access. That always happens when there is a big demand for something.

This is BS. How I was able then to buy multiple Mondo Prints that sold out every time in seconds when I'm in Germany?

Everyone who wants to buy a copy will get one. There will be no minutes or seconds sell out. Maybe it gets faster than Leon and Taxi Driver. But it will be available at least the whole release day.
