so it seems the steel is only missing the CD soundtrack? thats not too bad as I have it in the 3 disk DVD version which contains the theatrical and directors cut and the soundtrack

Nice to see this edition having some new extras though, makes a change from the usual recycled old ones. Its worth keeping my DVD for more than the soundtrack though as it contains some documentaries and interviews that dont seem to be listed in this editions extras...

Really? I'll definitely be keeping it then ;) its a nice edition, with a nice slipbox, Ive had it for ages, didnt pay a lot for it.

This is fine news! Delighted we aren't getting stiffed on the content. The soundtrack would be a bit much to expect for the price and I can live without it.

Maybe I've missed something but I'm 99% sure the statement from Studiocanal mentioned A 2BD/1CD release, so there is a 2nd BD disc for extras only which would appear to be missing from this steelbook.

Hmmm..The plot thickens...

On Amazon they state the regular 30th anniversary bluray's as 3 disks, with the content as:
Disc 1: "The Final Cut" (HD), the UK theatrical Cut (HD) & the Director's Cut (HD but with seamless branching to extra scenes in SD only) & audio commentary for Director's Cut
Disc 2: extras
Disc 3: The soundtrack

And the DVD version as a 4 disk edition containing:
Disc 1: ‘The Final cut’
Disc 2: the UK theatrical Cut & the Director's Cut & audio commentary for Director's Cut
Disc 3: extras
Disc 4: The soundtrack

So the Zavvi steelbook is a Bluray/DVD combo, it seems from the info on their page it will be the Bluray (disk 1, 3 versions of the film) from the Bluray set, plus the DVD (disk 1, just the final cut of the film) from the DVD edition, so no extras disk.....I dont see why they dont ditch the DVD and put the extras disk in its place :dunno:

Yeah I know, so as I said, using the info from Amazon, and the info from zavvi, Zavvi's Bluray/DVD combo must include disk 1 from the Bluray edition, and disk 1 from the DVD version so regardless of any extras on the feature disks themselves, it looks like the steelbook wont have the extras disk from either set

...just to clarify...the Zavvi steelbook is missing a 2nd bluray disc that contains more special features, or does that missing 2nd bluray disc also contain another cut of the movie?

We don't know yet but Amazon disc 2 is only extras
All 3 versions of movie are on Disc 1
Both Amazon and Zavvi release disc 1 is the same
Extras is what is says Disc 2: Extras (TBD)
Might just be same extras that's on the Dvd
With no information yet we will have to just wait and see

Seems pretty simple to me.

Amazon 3-disc:
Disc 1 - Blu-ray with all 3 cuts
Disc 2 - Blu-ray special features
Disc 3 - CD with soundtrack

Zavvi 2-disc Steelbook:
Disc 1 - Blu-ray with all 3 cuts
Disc 2 - DVD with all 3 cuts plus a handful of special features

There must be a lot of extras on offer here, seems as a BD disc will be housing them so there is no way I'd want only a couple on a dvd disc. The steelbook needs the 2nd BD instead of the redundant DVD, otherwise imo it's a no go.

Except the steelbook DVD disc only mentions the final cut, NOT all three cuts. Really, we can only speculate on exact content until more complete details are announced so I'm keeping my steelbook order for now.

I've had this on order for a while. I'm keeping my order in, but if the steelbook does indeed turn out to not have all the discs, I'll have to cancel and order the regular edition.

If the content does differ, then this is the sort of film where I'd be tempted (probably no more than that!) to create a super-steelbook version with 2 x BD, 1 x DVD, and 1 x CD. Would be rather expensive, though, to acquire both BD releases plus a 4-disc steel to cannibalise for the disc trays.

The Steelbook looks nice but I don't want to miss out on a disc of bonus features as this is one of my favourite films. I will get the regular version and may get the Steelbook if it looks good in pictures.

Doh! :emb:

Basically, the steelbook is advertised as a double play, hence the added DVD.

Zavvi good at releasing steelbooks, suck regarding content such as bonus disc etc... Mine goes cancel :( Tooo bad

Can anyone explain me why the hell people still blame the seller for the contents of a release???

It is not Zavvi to blame for what´s included in a product, they only sell what is given to them.

Unfortunately, there's a select few that love to blame Zavvi for everything.

Yes, their customer service is poor, and their inability to change addresses, order details and card details is extremely frustrating among other things.

However, release date changes, artwork and disc contents 99 times out of 100 are nothing to do with them. They're simply the retailer, not the distributor, designer, authoring house or rights holder. Sure, prices can be too high, but that's what happens now that Play and HMV have no (real) online presence. Even Amazon have put their steelbook prices up.

People even say things like 'Zavvi are stupid for making this region B only', yeah, like Zavvi have a choice.

Ultimately they offer a product. If someone doesn't like what they're offering, don't buy it.
