Who is to blame? Who has the worst reputation? Who deserves the worst publicity? It's time to hold someone responsible!
The first type of offender is the movie studios:
- The majority of my blu-ray's that have poor quality cases are from Paramount.
- Warner Bros. aren't so bad - it was a while later that movies with holes in the cases from Warner started to become part of my collection. More recent releases used the usual Viva Elite cases, but Warner have headed in the wrong direction again by using the v2 of the Eco case (example: recentl Crazy, Stupid, Love blu-ray release, see v2 case below).
- FOX, MGM and Lionsgate also ship great movies with shameful Eco-friendly cases.
- NOT an offender is Alliance Canada who leads the way by not even jumping on the bandwagon of eco-friendly cases.
Use the poll to vote for which movie studio has sent the most number of horrible cases your way.
Now the second type of offender is the manufacturer:
- Viva is the clear worst offender having created the inferior eco-friendly case with cut-out holes to begin with.
- MeadWestvaco are not much better, having changed their blu-ray cases to ones with cutout sections.
- However, thank you to Amaray for creating the sturdiest, most durable blu-ray cases out there. Thank you for not
replacing your product that protects blu-ray's well with an
Lastly, thanks to Sony for not using eco cases for console games. Another way the PS3 is superior to the competition is
that the games don't ship with holes in the cases, unlike the Nintendo Wii and XBOX 360. The cases need all the protection
they can get against the grubby fingers of children.
