Yeah, incredible Steelbook :oohyeah: looks absolutely fabulous. If only the film is at least on Ragnarok level, but I probably never watch this again :(

Ragnarok was somewhat watchable, but this one is with except of Gorr absolute lowest. Steelbook US variant at least is way better than movie itself. Can't imagine next Thor being on par with first three. Probably gonna be some low budget one.

Agree, European Eternals and Dr Strange MOM were both matte and flat with Thor L&T also flat (unsure of finish). Eternals and MOM at Best Buy were full gloss. Now Best Buy Thor L&T is debossed. Not sure why Best Buy keeps getting so lucky, while the rest of the world gets the shaft.
Looks so much nicer than the rest of the world stee

Maybe Best Buy pays extra for it. Maybe glossed steelbooks cost less to manufacture in the U.S. than they do in Europe and elsewhere and therefore the UK retailers won't pay the cost blah, blah, blah.

Who knows? We don't and we never will. There has to be a reason for it and it could be a money thing.

But I don't think it's a case of all studios saying "ah f*** the UK and the rest of the world. Let's shaft them with matte steelbooks and give the U.S. glossy just to watch the UK get pissy.:rofl::rofl:"

Then again... :dunno:

So?

Wtf that got anything to do with it. It should be consistent and all regions should get the better version
That things have been different for a long while and back then there wasn’t a definitive better version. Plus, you have people making decisions there that seem to have been convinced that matte is better, because it isn’t as easily scratched.

Wasn’t there a premium thread, where the industry poster said they were convinced to go with matte, because it’d look better with the darker colors and would be scratched less?

Best Buy has no involvment in what finish will be used
They are just a retailer that sells products offered to them from distributors some as a exclusive or as a trade wide release

Best Buy don't do any artwork design

Decisions on a SteelBook finish used is done by the Distributor/Scanavo
The Distributor in regards to this SteelBook is Disney USA

USA SteelBooks are mostly manfactured in Scanavo Plant In North America and or Scanavo plant in Mexico

Europe/Asia SteelBooks are made in either Denmark or China
It can vary if a Europe release will be made in Denmark or China

USA and Europe SteelBooks can have different finish as they are manfactured at different Scanavo Locations this why WWA SteelBooks will have region differences

You do sometimes get a release that has better finish embossing etc in Europe compared to USA but most time will be better in USA

It's very rare now that a print run a WWA steelbook for both USA/Euproe/Asia would be made in Denmark for all regions

Disney UK/Ireland and Disney Europe and Disney USA are separate Distributor's

Of course, none of that explains why the decision is made to have different finishes and embossing/debossing in different regions.

So it's still unknown and like I mentioned previously it's something we will never know the answer to.

Sure. But that wouldn't explain the difference in finishes between regions for the same steelbook.

"We recommend you go with matte for less scratches in the UK but definitely full gloss for the U.S. because...well just because."

hi all, a few more people have come forward and asked for a copy - just to get ahead of more pms...

I'm waiting for them to arrive and then will post any extras if they are OK. Been having a lot of returns due to spine slashes lately.

If foil is intact and spine is underneath that is factory prob and not store. Not sure if they give u replacement for that?

It’s In the new ex_machina steel collectors set thread.
That's kind of sad. Matte for scratches, sure. But for colors, especially darker colors, gloss is the best. Matte always looks overexposed and washed out in dark areas.
