Tim Burton Announces His Next Film at Comic Con

It has long been rumored that Tim Burton would tackle Dark Shadows after he finished up Alice In Wonderland. Today at the San Diego Comic Con he confirmed that he will indeed be directing the film. The show aired from 1966 to 1971 and had over 1,225 episodes. Dan Curtis the producer/director of the original series died last year and the rights to the show have finally been settled.

The original series featured vampires, monsters, witches, werewolves, ghosts and zombies. I would say rather than making a feature they should develop another TV series. I know the small screen is in dire need of more horror especially the basic cable channels.

Johnny Depp is apparently a huge fan of the series and has always wanted to play Barnabas Collins, the vampire patriarch of the series. So now he will be getting his chance to fufill his dreams with one of his favorite directors behind the helm.
