Here is the latest word from the BDA.

Basically they are interpreting the agreement as they think fit, lying through their teeth, and are basically telling all those interested in seeing it implemented to shove off!

Lovely behaviour for an alleged professional organization!

Here is it, verbatim:

while it is correct that Blu-ray PLAYERS have an obligation to be backwards compatible, this obligation does not apply to discs or "media." In fact, content providers themselves are generally not required to sign any license agreement.

For licensees who have signed a Format Logo and License Agreement, the applicable agreement contains a recommendation that content that plays in 3D (and not 2D) be clearly labeled accordingly, but this is only a recommendation and not a requirement.

In any event, while we appreciate you bringing this issue to our attention, please understand that enforcement of any license agreement and the BDA's related rights is a matter for the BDA's own evaluation and determination.

Regards,

Kristin

I fear they have a nasty surprise coming regarding their sole right to pontificate on the rights and wrongs if UK Trading Standards take up this, or any related matter.

And there we have it. The BDA isn't in authority to impose penalties on studios and its recommendations only serve as a guideline to the industry, not a law or legally binding contract.

Only 2 more months of groundhog day before this really cool looking Steelbook will be making its way to us.

Btw - the OP should be updated with the release date of 17th November and price of £22.99

While I lost interest in this topic when I discovered that my 3D player converts 3D to 2D, I still kinda wanna see how far you get with it.

Crack on mate, if you succeed you'll be doing a lot of people a big favour and if you don't then no big deal, right?

Thank you for that, much appreciated.

Well, if I hadn't been told to basically 'back off' then I'd probably have left it at that.

As it is, I think I'll have a word in a few shell-likes . . . :)

May get nowhere, but as you say, no big deal :)

p.s. Zoneism, I've lost track, has that date been set back?

:shy:Only 36 copies remaining guys

I can predict what posts are coming.............. I for one am looking forward to this. Best art out of the lot me thinks and the other night i realised that my tv converts 3d to 2d. Yay.

Back of the net!
