Pre ordered. Artwork looks great on this one. Shame there are two seperate releases for this movie though.

£23 for 3D and £19.99 for 2D? Just an idea ES/Paramount, but why don't you release two Steelbooks with different artwork with both a 2d and 3D disc in? I would actually like that somewhat pricey idea.

Agreed, very expensive precedent being set here going forward, assuming you want both discs in steelbook format.

I remember a brief period of time when buying a steelbook actually got you more content that the regular edition. Now we get less

Time to embrace plastic again I guess.

It's the same content as is on the normal 3D amaray - doesn't include 2D in that either so looks like an overall strategy from Paramount.

Ooh! It's up for pre-order! *Logs on quickly, orders a copy, sigh of relief*....... then reads description.... 3D ONLY?!?!?! Cancelled.

Pre-ordered. Loving the artwork, and I agree with most that a Steelbook should be the best packaged offer and have at least the 2D with the 3D disk. Shame on you Paramount!

I might be wrong but in the UK don't all 3D releases must include a 2D version available with both 3D/2D on the same disc or separate discs as one release
Has this UK rule been changed ?????

It's not just the UK but an international standard for Blu-ray set by the various signatory companies to the Blu-ray Disc Association (BDA). When 3D Blu-ray was developed, Sony insisted that it have backward compatibility with 2D. The first big 3D Blu-ray release was, of course, "Avatar" which contains both 2D & 3D versions on the same disc. Other releases where this has been the case have included "Dredd" and "Texas Chainsaw".

For many companies, however, a way circumventing this requirement was to include the 2D disc as an extra when purchasing the 3D version, and this has become the norm for 3D releases.

This particular release, however, is not the first time one of the home entertainment giants has ignored its obligations under the agreement for commercial reasons. Just over a year ago, Disney released the US Blu-rays of "Oz: The Great and Powerful" in separate 2D only & 3D only editions. There was a public backlash and Disney found itself having to allow purchasers the facility to send in for a copy of the missing disc for an additional $5.99. After that debacle, Disney reverted to 2D/3D combos.

It would certainly appear, therefore, that Paramount is in breach of its obligations under the BDA, in that they are releasing a 3D only edition without the additional 2D disc. I personally have absolutely no interest in acquiring any of the "Transformers" movies but those of you ordering this release should research the facts and complain in the strongest possible terms to Paramount.
